So I just read that they've sold nearly 35K tickets for this game. Target Field has a capacity of 39.5K. With game day sales, including additional student tickets, this could be a sellout.

Link?  Can I have a read too?

I think he probably got it from here...

We shouldn't be surprised by this.  Don't get me wrong, I'll be at the game, but this is a D3 PR event put on by the Twins.  Who would pay for sodding the dirt, the Twins, the Johnnies, the Tommies???  And quickly laid sod is sometimes worse than just dirt.  If UST had a football field or campus they were proud of this probably wouldn't be happening in the first place.

That's my thought...wasn't there a super bowl recently where there was freshly laid sod that led to poor field conditions?  Maybe it isn't as big of an issue for soccer, since it doesn't involve needing to plant and gain leverage against the ground in order to block or tackle someone, but it seems like it just wouldn't work well for football, with rootless sod sitting on top of dirt.

To do it right, you have to uniformly scrape off a couple inches of the infield dirt, so the sod can be level with the rest of the grass, and have it sit down in a bed, vs. shifting on top of the infield.  Not saying it's an easy task, but they've got the equipment to do so.

Agree w you, although I think it's closer to 6 inches to a foot of digging, I remember seeing how they did that for a game and they showed the pieces, basically thick enough so they don't move.  You still have seams though that I remember causing an issue.  NDSU, one of their championships down in Texas, there was an issue from new sod from what I remember.

I just went on the twins site and counted about 750 tickets available.   :o

I have no intimate knowledge w either but my guess is Herm going up to AA.  They took a lot of heat for not going now, I'm hoping they do in 2 years when it opens up again. Their peewee aa team was top 10 this year.

I've been trying to find out who the culprit was too.

Any Hermantown hockey/gun questions, let me know.  I am a native and also played hockey, albeit quite a few years ago.  Y'all be nice to us, we get a lot of online abuse (some of it deserved).

Don't Print That

Heard it on good authority last night that SJU will have a 10th game next season.
So there is still a chance of the Home & Home with St. Scholastica on back to back weekends...... ???

I have no additional info but at the Johnnie Standup last Thursday it was a topic of conversation. During the athletics update a member of the coaching staff said people can stop asking him about as they essentially have a solution in place. Time will tell.

Long time listener to the program, first time caller.  Hello to everyone.

Presentation College the week 2 opponent for SJU.
