Quote from: Raider 68 on October 22, 2025, 09:37:10 AMI expect the Mount/ONU to be competitive. ONU is much better than recent years. My concern this year is the Raider defense. Just not as strong as recent years, and if they win the conference the offense will have to carry them in the playoffs. I remember how Wartburg just shredded the Mount defense two years ago. The defensive talent and size this year is limited. IMHO
Granted it is only the end of the
1st qtr, but you were talking just
about that first offensive series and not the whole game, right?
38 yard field goal, 17-0 Mount, beginning of 2nd.
20-0 @ half

Quote from: JCUStreaks70 on October 20, 2025, 02:17:45 PMIt could be, but jokes are not usually over played... I won't call DePauw a powerhouse, but I believe the consensus would consider them a Top 20 program. But at the same time, with the exception of NCC, and VERY few others, all programs are "inferior" to Mount. It's the reality of D3 Football. Tier One, NCC, Mount and MAYBE SJU, and #1 WIAC; Tier 2, JHU, Bethel, Hardin Simmons, another WIAC pick-em. Tier 3, JCU, DePauw, Wheaton, 3 more WIAC schools, and a dozen others. Am I ranking ourselves too high? Maybe?

I do know this, playing you all year and year out prepared us to set ourselves up for the Pool A this year, and with Wabash steadily getting better, and Wash U joining next year, the NCAC will become a VERY entertaining conference to watch. Having those games prepares teams to eventually unseat the kings. Looks at NCC for example. It took years of getting the playoffs, getting the tough losses to Mount and Whitewater, coupled with a few years where IWU also competed to make the three schools perform their best, for NCC to get that first Championship.

Lastly, and not related, with next year being the big "drop" that we all knew was coming from the 08-09 crisis and the plummeting birth rate those years, there will unfortunately be a few more schools that'll close, and the OAC probably won't be susceptible to a couple of closures

hey, I hope that JCU wins whatever intramural conference that they are in now.  A BW-JCU playoff game would be nice to see...although BW will probably blow that chance at some point in the next couple of weeks.  That being said, I think a lot of Purple Raiders would like to see the Blue Streaks come to Alliance in the weeks around Thanksgiving.  Good luck to JCU the rest of the way, hopefully the rest of the teams on their schedule have enough players to finish the season.
Since others are congratulating JC on their season, I would like to congratulate them on their victory over powerhouse Oberlin from a few weeks back.
Oberlin, the only school in DIII football that considers it a victory when the can score a single point.
Honestly, I think JC will remain in the playoffs as long as they don't start to do JC things to themselves, like forgetting this rule.

Under NCAA, a minimum of three seconds must be on the clock for a spike play; otherwise, any spike after will result in the rest of the clock being run off.

ugly game for the Raiders, but a 30+ point win is what it is.  did not like to see three Raiders OL go out today with injuries. ONU is going to be coming into Alliance hot as can be.
The average temperature of a polar bear is only 98.6 degrees.
That's not even fever hot 🥵 🌡.
Time to give them a polar plunge.

So glad I pay good money to see a frozen picture.  When the picture isn't frozen it is pixelated.  Not looking for network quality, but we deserve something better than this.
Only bought it for football season then getting rid of it.

Quote from: D3fanboy on October 11, 2025, 02:52:03 PMa Raiders onside kick up 30 in the first half was not something that I had on my bingo card
Son-in-Law is looking to upgrade his seat at the Thanksgiving table?
Has to win a Stagg Bowl to do that.
This Thanksgiving it is back to the folding card table with the kids.
He might not want to leave the card table, he does get a plate made up for him and gets a glass of milk like all the other kids do.

Way too many dropped passes.

Shedeur Sanders got in some extra work this week at a BW practice.  Judging by his 13-12 record at Colorado, he picked the perfect place to get some throws in
The Yellowjackets are so desperate for a victory over the Purple Raiders, they are trying to talk
Shedeur Sanders into becoming a college student again.

The boyz from JC are walking tall after that tough victory over those premier cellar dwellers from Oberlin College.  A victory for Oberlin is when they actually score any points.
Good thing JC changed conferences because of tougher academics and not weaker athletics.

Anyone willing to venture a guess as to how many non 4th down field goal attempts the Buckeyes would have tried today if they played "Dartt ball"?
Maybe Ryan Day could have a little
tete-a-tete with Coach Dartt about why it is necessary to keep the accelerator to the floor the whole game and let their 11 stop our 11, whether it is the second, third or even fourth string players.

Did anyone get flocollege yet to watch the OAC games?
I am only planning on keeping it for football.  Keeping it for couple of months for the football season costs just about as much as the yearly subscription price.
Hope it is going to be worth it.

Some things never change.  Another Thanksgiving dinner quickly approaches at the Larry Kehres  household, and the seating arrangements will be the same again this year.  The family members that have won a national championship and their spouses at the main table and Coach Dartt once again eating his turkey on the folding card table with the kids while seated on a very uncomfortable folding chair.
Will he EVER get moved up to the big table with all the other National Championship coaches or is he doomed the rest of his career to consume his turkey dinner at the folding card table with the kids?
I wish someone knew the answer!

Quote from: D3fanboy on July 18, 2025, 12:54:48 PMstinks that current students/athletes will have to pay to watch.  re-watching the Mount games on WIVM late night Saturday was always a good time in the off-campus house

They are actually lucky, because it will only cost their parents
$9.99/month.
Wish everyone had the ability to get that discount.

QuoteMount Union head coach Geoff Dartt is 56-4 at the Division III Ohio powerhouse. Though the program hasn't won a national title since 2017, Dartt has reached the national championship game twice in the last three years, including last season. The former Mount Union player has spent all but one year since 2017 with the Purple Raiders. Lance Leipold made the move from Division III to the MAC and won at Buffalo. Could another coach do the same?

Toledo defensive coordinator Vince Kehres was Mount Union's head coach from 2013 to 2019, winning two Division III national titles. The 48-year-old knows Ohio through and through, and he regularly has produced one of the top three defenses in the MAC since arriving in 2020.

Vince seems like a perfect candidate for the job

unless VK is dead set on becoming a HC right now, he might want to wait it out.  With spring ball starting up in a matter of days, a new 30 day transfer portal window for BGSU players its going to be a tough, tough start for the new head coach.  former NDC coach Mike Jacobs sounds the favorite right now if you trust the interwebs

Sorry, the position has been filled by Eddie George of Ohio State and Tennessee Titan fame.

I think Marcus Freeman(ND) would give Geoff Dartt a run for his money in gum chomping.
Congrats to the Buckeyes!
National Champions once again!!

Quote"I blame myself a little bit for some of the play calling and not allowing our guys to do what they do best," said Mount Union head coach Geoff Dartt, who suffered his first loss in 18 games.

"Obviously were prepared for what they were doing on defense. We didn't execute at the end of the day. A lot of that was on me as the offensive play caller."

after loss to NCC in '21

Quote"Congrats to Alma," Dartt said. "They played a lot better than us today, and obviously give them a lot of credit. I'll take a lot of the blame as the head coach in terms of having the team prepared."

"We got down in the red zone and couldn't finish there. I'll put that on me from a play-calling standpoint. We have to be able to protect the ball and we didn't do that. That's not on the players. That's on me as the head coach and the offensive play caller."

after the Alma embarrassment in '24

Quote"That was bad coaching by me, plain and simple," Dartt said. "We should have took a shot to the end zone. If we didn't have it, throw it out of the back of the end zone and kick the field goal.

"That's on me as the coach and play caller, not on our guys."

last night

I'll give you a guess as to what he said after the gross Otterbein and Muskie games this year as well

The father of LK's grandkids (and the greatest gum chewer this side of the Mississippi) is obviously not going to be fired, but for the love of all things holy hire an Offensive Coordinator

Ken Dorsey is now in the unemployment line and looking for a new job.  He likes to throw the ball.  It's either this or coaching peewee football in his home town.
