Can anybody explain what has happened to Southwestern? Maybe someone mentioned it, but I haven't seen it covered here. Did they lose their top 3 QB's to injury in the first 13 quarters of the season?

Was wondering the same thing. How did they beat LC 50-3 and then lose to Sul Ross??

I just saw the box score for UMHB v Howard Payne. 80 yds of total offense for HPU?! After firing on all cylinders for the first 2 games and putting up very respectable numbers against HSU, that is a defensive annihilation by UMHB. Wow.

Watched most of the ETBU game. Special teams had tons of penalties, dropped passes from WRs, and overthrows from Bacca early really let them down. They should have won the game. Very unfortunate for ASC football.

Very frustrating to watch. They definitely should have won that game.

ETBU loses a tough one. 38-30. Whole lotta mistakes cost them dearly but what's new lol

ETBU in a battle with UW-Platteville. 7-7 end of 1st qtr.

Now 17-17 at half. ETBU has dropped at least 5 passes so far and it has really hurt them. I don't think I've seen so many drops in one half of football. Fortunate this thing is tied.

I say this with all due respect to UMHB, but I hope something besides UMHB going undefeated happens!  This is a boring read. ::)

Agreed. Lol, rooting for somebody to give them some competition. Last year was a *yawn* for conference play.

Checking in. Anddd gotta admit a little bummed but not surprised that UMHB keeps the machine rolling with such a good recruiting class. Hopefully y'all can run it back; has UMHB ever won 2 in a row? That would be cool, almost as cool as an ETBU upset this year lol

Tuned out during the playoff talk/conspiracy theories but just wanted to say congrats UMHB on an amazing season. What a run y'all have had the last few years. Its fun to get to play the top of D3 every year in-conference.

Sadly, I firmly believe had we kept the offensive scheme from last year —which was similar to Walden's from a few years back, we would at worst be 8-1 at this point. Consistency and sustained drives have been an issue for ETBU all season. If you look at stats the drop-off doesn't seem drastic, but we almost exclusively score on big plays. You know who doesn't give up a lot of big plays? ANY above average defense. We were completing close to 70% of passes last year, and this year is close to 50%. Our defense, although they give up points, has actually played pretty good all season other than the UW Platt. game. Really hope coaches gameplan some easy quick action plays, bc I'm assuming we won't have any time to throw, and running has been weak all year. We have the talent, which is why I think we still have a shot to make it a game Saturday.

Lol UMHB has only given up 49 points all year -- and most in a game is 14. That's ridiculous.

It makes no difference for us in the end, but it would be a silver lining in a pretty blah season for ETBU to pull out an upset over the CRU....

Won't happen. Our D is better than last year, and our O is light years ahead of last year. Sorry. It is what it is.

I mean you're probably right....but we didn't think it'd be close last year either. Having said that, I've seen nothing in our offensive scheme that really instills any confidence that we can ever adjust to anything a defense throws at us. And if you can stop our run with 4-5 guys in the box (every average defense we've played has done that to us) its tough to get anything going through the air. Just hoping for a miracle here haha

There is an intriguing storyline for the game Saturday. KJ Miller transferred from ETBU to UMHB. Supposedly he wanted to play FB and Baseball and ETBU wouldn't let him. When he touches the ball, It's a fun ride. I wonder if he's got a little extra for them or they for him?

supposedly UMHB coaches' recruiting prowess is not contained to the high school ranks haha

Its insane to me that HSU could be 9-1 this season and miss playoffs. I understand the criteria is a certain way and transparent formulas are usually a good way to go, but the #8 team in the nation not getting into the playoffs is crazy. That said, I would bet by the end of the year we see Hardin-Simmons in the tournament.

I love the 32-team playoff format -- and I'm admittedly fuzzy on the history/discussion around it -- but 26 spots for conference champions seems like it points to a lot of deserving teams missing out, while sub-par conference champions go. If HSU misses out I'm sure everyone would agree there are probably not 10 -- much less 32 -- better teams in the nation.
I would agree, but i would rather them sit at home than a team that won their conference not get to go because of some one's opinion. You will never hear me refer to D1 bowl schools as having a national champion. I will call them the BCS champ (or whatever it is now) but not the national champ because their tourney entry is based on opinion. It may have stats the opinions are based on, but at the end of the day, who is deserving is decided by committee not on the field. You win your conference first then you play the tournament. You win, you earned it. Pool C at large bids are based on subjectivity and who you end up behind or with on the board. You make it pool C you have had grace extended to you because you were not capable of winning the AQ.
Man idk about this logic, do you think Appalachian State deserved to be in the College Football Playoff more than Alabama? One won their conference and another didn't...
