Quote from: Texas Ole on May 27, 2026, 05:48:39 PMDeer, but wild love to do wild hog. I'm glad we don't have them in the area of our family farm where I hunt deer.Quote from: faunch on May 26, 2026, 10:46:07 PMNot sure if there's an air conditioning contest but we turned ours on today at approximately 6:30 pm. Hot and sticky might be fun for some things but sleeping isn't one of them.
I had to turn mine on in March. We had some days in the 90s which pushed the temp inside to the mid 80s. It was brutal! Just got my electric bill for May which wasn't terrible in terms of heat, but still over $250. An electric bill in the summer can easily hit $500+ for a 2500 square foot home. It flat out sucks. I'll start reffing basketball in some gyms in a few weeks. They tell me the gyms have A/C, but I am not sure it ever gets used. I've been known to walk outside to cool off. I leave the heat off for longer than most in the area. Usually the house has to sit around 60 before I turn it on.
What's everyone's favorite thing to hunt? Love me some dove hunting. High limits with lots of shooting. If it flies and dies I am in. Deer hunting is nice, but in Texas it's not the most sporting of activities in my opinion. Hoping to do some hog/predator hunting with the thermal scope soon.
Quote from: Texas Ole on May 19, 2026, 06:09:44 PMLooking at moving back to Minnesota. I haven't had my first $200 cooling bill yet, but the $500 one is coming! Anyways I was asked about a job in Willmar. I had some friends who were from there, but I've lost track of most of them. Anyone know anything about the town today?
Also will have to do some research on hunting. Most hunting in Texas on private lands where pretty much anything goes. Deer and turkey hunting over feeders. Not really the most sporting means. Certain species you can hunt at night especially with thermals and night vision. Also I don't remember there being a ton of dove hunting in MN, but looking forward to chasing some other wild upland birds.
Quote from: Retired Old Rat on April 17, 2026, 09:28:48 PMThe whole thing is wrong. Would like to know what the UMHB donor paid. It's a weird twist to say the least.....
Quote from: DuffMan on April 14, 2026, 02:16:19 PMVan Krevelen to Lead Saint John's WrestlingThe resume with junior director of MN USA Wrestling, assistant at STMA & Prior Lake + Head coach at Shakopee will pay dividends on the recruiting trail at least in MN, possibly Upper Midwest.
He's certainly built great success at Shakopee. I hope he can return SJU wrestling to relevance!

If I recall the dad I know was told that the alum is ponying up about $300K....that should be enough to build one really good line and get a goalie. Wonder how the other guy feel about playing with guys getting $50K each and the rest of you are getting bupkis.
Quote from: DuffMan on March 18, 2026, 09:52:26 PMBig news out of Collegeville as SJU parts ways with wrestling coach Kevin Schiltz.Lots of shake ups with SJU coaching. I'm wondering if the days where you take a job as a coach and stay 40+ years are a thing of the past at SJU.
I'm hopeful that AD O'Brien is committed to bringing the program back to competitiveness. They have an opportunity to be great, but the school will need to commit to it.
Quote from: DuffMan on March 09, 2026, 07:47:25 PMI smoked pot with Johnny Hopkins.Rebel
Quote from: DuffMan on February 26, 2026, 04:14:23 PMI get that you want it to be free, Faunch, but it costs money to produce these streams. Do you think the schools should just eat the cost? How much would it actually cost you to go to the game? There are a lot of variables on the table such as cost of tuition. There could be a lot of "nickel & dime" charges and price increases for things we already pay for in the not too distant future.
I'm not saying that I like having to pay, but if the option is paying for a decent broadcast vs. watching a CSS Football stream, I'll gladly pay the $10-$15.
Quote from: Patrick Coleman on February 06, 2026, 11:15:00 AMYes, St. John's is playing UW-La Crosse to open. It's a home-and-home in 2026 and probably 2028, not 2027.Outstanding! SJU is finally hearing the fans. Paying the highest season ticket and tailgate lot access in the MIAC the fanbase is sooooo tired of paying top dollar to watch yet another noncompetitive non-conference match up. Win or lose playing a top tier non-conference opponent is a positive for the program. Go Johnnies!
Quote from: DuffMan on February 02, 2026, 01:19:47 PMA couple of changes on SJU's staff: Dumonceaux Elevated to Assistant Head Coach, Herberg Named SJU's Defensive CoordinatorIMHO there seems to be a solid succession plan for when Gary retires.Could this be that now Dan O'Brien is AD he's looking at an orderly transfer when Gary decides to hang up the headset?
