If you are planning on going to the game, you are going. You don't care if it is 530 or 730. The bigger issue is how to get students to attend games.  It is a problem that is not exclusive to the University.

I would guess that in a more traditional college town, more kids are showing up. But kids at an urban school, seconds from downtown, especially on a Friday night, are not interested in going to a preseason tip-off game, sadly.

How are other schools drawing kids in?

*A few teams (Elizabethtown, Moravian, Drew, Goucher, Lycoming) haven't released their rosters yet so had to speculate. Drew hasn't released their roster on their site but they did post it on Instagram a while back and these calculations are based on that. That's where it was noted that Taylor Perlmutter had transferred from Moravian to Drew.

Can't believe Scranton's rebounding is that high. I had it in my head somewhere around 0.00004%

And not hosting an NCAA game since 2003, and that was only because of a filing error

Wonder how the program may have been different if he had been at the U all those years. Not taking a shot or insinuating. Just pondering.

The non-conference schedule is an upgrade. Lehman was 19-8. DeSales a down year at 13-12, Neumann 20-8. Kings was 11-12, but they aren't going to not play them. Stevens 19-8 and seemingly becoming a regular non-conference mate. Centenary 11-15, and Ursinus and Naz both 17-10. Potentially all 50-50 games. Overall, an upgrade of years past.

Royals Schedule is up

I just don't see it. The program is absolutely in better hands than 25 years ago. It took some time, but the program year in competes for the conference title, something that was never said prior to joining the Landmark.

I do not want to speak poorly on another school, but you cannot possibly compare Scranton to Keystone. Very different schools, and academic requirements. Also, Keystone plays in arguably one of the worst conferences in the country.

We should also move this to baseball board, ha

Quote from: Augie2020 on July 23, 2025, 11:53:54 AMI follow all sports at the U  but when Mia was with  the program was giving Moravian a fight and going to the NCAA but before her and after her the program is not even close to competing,The Men's Baseball team has 2 NCAA tournament appearances 2 I think .So my question is what the hell do you call Success.Success is what Ben does with the Lady Royals ,Success is what Mike Strong and Bob Bessior did while at the U that is success. All I hear everyone say wow beautiful complex should help with Recruiting well guess what nothing in those two sports that play there has come to reality.

11 20 plus win seasons, 2 30 win seasons, and two trips to NCAA since joining Landmark.

That sounds pretty successful to me. Especially where you see where the program was prior under previous coach.

I don't understand the argument on either of the softball/ baseball programs. Both have been quit successful since the department joined the Landmark. Especially baseball.

The great Kevin Southard was a SFU guy before the U

Quote from: saratoga on March 04, 2025, 07:23:46 AMPittsburgh to Whitewater, Wisc. 569 miles (flight).
Pittsburgh to Scranton 283 miles (bus).

If Scranton makes it through the first weekend, they will be the highest ranked team in that section with a # 3 national ranking in NPI.
Why would they not host weekend # 2?
As I said earlier, there will either be 2 flights heading west or 2 heading east.
If the highest seed is still standing, purchase your "Office" tee shirts now. ;)

I don't understand the argument. Scranton is a larger metro area, with more hotels, restaurants to meet the needs of teams coming in. The gyms are nearly the same size, with I believe the Long Center holding more.

And. Scranton is the higher seed.

The host would have been Carnegie-Mellon, not Whitewater, because a flight would have been eliminated(if Pittsburgh-Whitewater < 500 miles).

Ah, my fault!  I did not go back that far!

Thanks!
