Quote from: Trin9-0 on August 19, 2025, 10:37:02 PMLumber congrats to Bates (and Tufts) on 150. Here's when the rest of the NESCAC first began playing football:
Bates  1875
Tufts1875
Trinity1877
Amherst1878
Wesleyan1881
Williams1881
Middlebury1885
Bowdoin1889
Hamilton1890
Colby  1892

While I would love to see Conn College join the party, I realize that there is about a less that Zero chance of this ever happening...

My daughter graduated from Bowdoin a few years back, and I would recommend the Haraseekett Lunch and Lobster in South Freeport Maine...it's about 20 minutes South of Brunswick, and offers great views as well.

Linebacker Julian Young from Colby has also received an invite to the Ravens rookie mini camp

Interesting article from today...not sure if it has been posted elsewhere, and many kudos to Tufts kicker Vaughn Seelicke for being such a strong voice for the players backing the proposal.

Quote from: Trin9-0 on February 07, 2025, 12:33:02 PMI follow CT high school football pretty closely and this is a great get by Wes. He'll be a star.

I definitely agree with this as he was a very good player at Choate and excellent pick up for the Cardinals. I am interested to see if he is going to be used as a kick returner at Wesleyan...

Can confirm that Mozawalla from Choate is an excellent player; strong and accurate arm and he has the ability to get it done with his feet as well. Lots of talent on the Choate squad this season, but Mozawalla was a special player for the Wild Boars this past fall.

Random fact:

I worked with a guy who with the Seahawks for a bit, and he said that Stephen Hauschka was by far the best ping pong player on the roster.

Quote from: lumbercat on November 16, 2024, 11:05:58 AMI think you will see 2 or more Bobcats on OL selections this Tuesday led by Sr left Tackle Pete Simplicio who was the leader of that unit and only guy on the line who was not a FY or sophomore.

I agree with Lumbercat about Peter Simplicio from Bates as a candidate for all NESCAC selection...having watched #73 for the past three seasons he has been excellent.

Gotta love the unpredictable nature of the NESCAC; Wesleyan finished 8-1 and their only loss was to Bates, and Hamilton's finished 1-8 and their only win was against Bates.

Quote from: mhoncho123 on October 24, 2024, 10:11:35 PMI apologize for the improper phrasing of the prior post. The wording wasn't thought through. Thank you to me fellow board members for holding me accountable. Was not my intention to allude to anything specific. I sincerely apologize for the mistake. I'll be better.

With regret,
Honcho, NESCAC Legend

Appreciate the updated post and apology, especially with the anniversary coming up tomorrow. My son had to shelter in an academic building for most of the night of the 25th, and he had been at the bowling alley the week before the shooting. Too many lives lost in a senseless incident, and lots of people still affected, but Lewiston has shown great resiliency.

Now hoping the Bobcats can find a way to shock the Panthers on Saturday.

I was at the Bates - Tufts game in Lewiston on Saturday night, and was I impressed with both teams. Lots of good energy from both teams on the sidelines throughout the game and it was a fun atmosphere even given the wind and chilly night. It was great to see the Bates kids selling the pink T Shirts to raise money and awareness for breast cancer, and it was awesome to see the number of pink shirts in the stands as well.

Coach Coyne has the Bobcats playing hard and there are a lot of young guys playing serious minutes at impact positions which bodes well for the future.

Tufts O line was super impressive giving their QB time to read through his progressions and opening holes for the RB's, and the Tufts kicking game was excellent as well.

I was at the Bates - Wesleyan game and was impressed by the effort of the Bobcats in all three phases of the game. Defense was very strong and made some key stops deep in their own territory. The offense hit on a few big plays, Lynskey had an excellent game and the special teams were impressive as well with a late field goal to push the lead to a two score margin again. Congrats to Coach Coyne and the team for a big win on the road!

For the Cardinals, Candido and Wilson are a dangerous connection, and the Wes O-Line gave their Candido time and space to work his magic. Special shoutout to Villano for the Wes D as #6 was always around the ball making plays.

The game day experience is always outstanding in Middletown and it was also awesome to see the Bates families travel so well.

Quote from: Nescacman on September 03, 2024, 09:36:20 AMKinda sad when we get more posts from CC Camels than we do from "real" NESCAC schools that play Saturday on the gridiron.

Heh-heh...The Mighty Camels are looking to build upon their 112th Fall without a loss on the gridiron!!  In fairness though, my kids are a recent Bowdoin graduate and a football Bobcat.

Looking forward to another great season of NESCAC football!
