Quote from: Trin9-0 on September 09, 2025, 11:32:19 AMBelow are the NESCAC score projections for Week 1 followed by the respective national ranking based on the Bill Connelly SP+ computer model rating (last years final rankings included in parenthesis):

Amherst 20.0 - Bates 19.9
Trinity 35.2 - Colby 8.3
Tufts 30.9 - Bowdoin 14.6
Wesleyan 23.7 - Middlebury 17.9
Williams 31.2 - Hamilton 9.3

29. Trinity (31)
68. Wesleyan (74)
73. Tufts (79)
82. Middlebury (87)
89. Williams (91)
140. Colby (130)
159. Bowdoin (152)
173. Amherst (180)
186. Bates (174)
194. Hamilton (190)

As you'd expect with a computer model, the accuracy improves once there's actual data from games to pull from so this week especially is more of a crap shoot. TWith that said, the computer sees Amherst-Bates as a virtual pick 'em. Sorry, blitzBowdoinblitz but it agrees with nescac1 and NESCACFball24/7 on the Jumbos and Polar Bears. The Game of the Week between Midd @ Wes should be a good one while the Bants and Ephs are expected to take care of business rather easily.

We shall see! Looking forward to Saturday.

Looks like Bill & his computer are telling us to tune in for Amherst vs Bates;  I'll bite!!

Here's to the start of the fall campaign & wishing well to every player for an injury free season.

I agree with several other posters; this could be a VERY competitive league this year...hope to see some close games down to the wire!!

Quote from: nescac1 on June 21, 2025, 01:58:23 PMI don't think this has been previously posted: all-conference Trinity lineman Jordan Atkinson has transferred to Georgetown.

With that, no one has more than three returnees from last year's all-league team (Trinity and Bates each have three).  Between that, and at least half the league with new QBs (including the three top QBs in the league graduating), could be the hardest Nescac year to handicap in quite some time

So who is accepting the "handicap challenge"...?

Was curious about Beltrand...did a quick check of his senior year's stats out in Cali as the starting quarterback...I'd say Bates should be just fine with him throwing the ball a tad...!

Very nice body of work.

Well above average...for HS, exceptional.

Quote from: nescac1 on January 13, 2025, 06:09:40 AMOne guess at next year's QB picture.  Definitely a lot of turnover and presumably a lot of competition at the position.  Some of these, especially Tufts, Trinity and Wesleyan, are wildly speculative, so more informed folks may have better intel.  * = returning starter:

Amherst - Marek Hill* (Mason Morrow also returns but Hill seems like the guy)

Bates - Seneca Moore

Colby - Miles Drake*

Bowdoin - Peter Macauley (Michael Wolfendale also in mix)

Hamilton - Luke Kurzum* (Henry Rubey also will get snaps, it seems)

Middlebury - Brian Moran*

Trinity - Jake Robbins (listed as a senior, but WVU transfer has a year of eligibility left)

Tufts - Hudson Weidman (Justin Keller also in the mix and will at least get snaps as a wildcat QB)

Wesleyan - Chase Wilson (Cooper Tyszko also in the mix)

Williams - Owen McHugh* (as discussed, Johansen, a rising soph, or a FY could also be in the mix)

Anyone else have different thoughts??

QB uncertainty could make for an interesting season in the 'Cac....

Quote from: Trin9-0 on December 12, 2024, 10:15:59 AMHow long until we start hearing rumors of NESCAC transfers to North Carolina...?  ;D

Already one notable transfer:  Bill's girlfriend is receiving "full support throughout the admissions process"

Quote from: ItsATuftSituation on November 27, 2024, 02:32:07 PMJust came across the fact that Tufts HC Jay Civetti was on the most recent episode of Tufts podcast. Talked for a good while, worth the listen, mentioned playoffs and roster limits, also had a lot of great things to say about the league and its teams. Seems like a good guy, at least for me who has never met him. Here's the link if anyone wants to listen, he starts at 53 mins in.

Was a good listen...thanks for sharing.

I'd call that one a toss-up.

Not in relation to the unfortunate beatdown the Pants will incur on Saturday...hope we are wrong, but this game won't be close.

Nescacman,

I think the matchup in Brunswick seems more pressing for than Wesleyan faithful than the game in Vermont (Panthers + 110). I'm really curious to see how the Wesleyan offensive line and rushing attack adjust from last week. My film study of the Wesleyan v Colby game showed many lapses among the offensive line. From what appeared to be missed assignments, poor schemes, etc, I believe this Bowdoin front 8 will give them fits. I like Bowdoin in this one.

Maybe other board members know this, but why does it say "Junior Varsity" next to my name? I've never played a snap of JV ball in my life. I was a 4 year varsity letterman, so maybe board admin can adjust this error for me.

Bulletin board material for Midd -- defending champs ranked 4th and behind their week 1 opponent. I'm not sure the team has lost as much talent on offense as the board seems to think, and this might be the best DL group in all of Division III. The beautiful thing is we don't need to argue because we will see on Saturday.

There are no lockdowns but an outbreak. The rule

Quote from: Charlie on September 11, 2024, 11:18:41 AMHas anyone also heard rumor that COVID is spreading around Colleges again. I heard the bug has Hit Amherst , Trinity & Wesleyan. Just wanted to see if anyone else has heard about this and how and if at all would affect upcoming games.

Not sure that it ever went away. It's endemic now. Do you mean that there are active outbreaks spurring lockdowns or changes in policy on those specific campuses? Folks with kids at those schools might have insight.

No lockdowns or policy changes I know Wesleyan and Trinity have had a spike in cases. I guess rules to practice , games classes etc have changed just thought this was interesting news.Did not know if this was occurring at other schools

@Pat Coleman

Can we get a messaging/quoting/forum training sesh for our esteemed Mr. Charlie? That was a massacre.

Amen to that John...actually was trying to figure out how he did that. Maybe he hit the quote button one too many times?!? So good...

Throughout history there have been watershed events; meteors, world wars, space travel, internet technology, etc.

Some people experienced these remarkable happenings firsthand, (for better or worse).

People have said, "I lived when....."

We select few, the NESCAC forum members, will always hold the distinction of being able to proclaim:  "I posted with CHARLIE!!"

Quote from: NescacNewbie on August 21, 2024, 09:03:34 AMWilliams could be the sleeper this year in the top tier. Fischetti (if healthy) should be the top back in the league. They return a good defense that was banged up with injuries for most of the year. The big question will be the QB. I don't see a clear favorite there yet.

Can't argue with this take...should be interesting to watch the run game!
