Men's soccer / Re: New England Soccer Discussion
April 14, 2026, 06:52:35 AMQuote from: SierraFD3soccer on April 13, 2026, 09:55:09 AMQuote from: Kuiper on April 11, 2026, 06:29:54 PMBabson posted on its Instagram account the results from its Spring game today. Looks like it beat the UConn Huskies (D1) by a 2-1 score
UConn was 12-5-4 last season and got to the second round of the NCAA tournament before falling to Maryland. Pretty impressive result (with all the caveats about spring games and player availability etc)!
Perhaps and not trying to take away from what happened, but UCONN played two games on the same day (9 was Babson and 1 was Providence). Second game was against Providence so I'm thinking the Babson game was for evaluating players who may not have had much playing time.
The Providence game was also for the new Northeast Spring Cup. 8 different teams in two groups. UConn, Boston College, Boston University, Bryant, New Hampshire, Providence, UMASS, and Vermont. So I am guessing UCONN used its starters from 2025. https://friars.com/news/2026/2/17/mens-soccer-mens-soccer-to-compete-in-inaugural-northeast-spring-cup
Another interesting thing - looked at UCONN's roster and they had a keeper grad student, Adam Carter, from Messiah who started all its games in 23 and 24. However he did not see the field in 25 at UCONN.
Good info. So what this tells me is Babson (minus the entire Junior class, abroad) was better than UConns reserves last weekend.

They say, "are you going to heaven or are you going to Ohio."
Maybe the Cali boy didn't like the Ohio climate and opted for the horrible heat of San Antonio.
As for Jersey, you can take the boy out of jersey but you can't take the jersey out of the boy. Maybe the super-crunchy megalopolis of Gambier Ohio (population 2,200) wasn't for him and he wanted to be closer to home.
3 transfers doesn't strike me the way it struck you.

Good conversation as SC takes the knife and digs it into the wound as they relive the PK violation.

I bet he will be platinum level on SAS airways by April.
I have met and communicated with him, not a fan.

December 11, 2025, 01:33:33 PMI do wonder how that nescac final woukd have turned out if we didnt give them a goal at the end of the game...

I know how the Conn season should have ended had it not been for 2 unnecessary blunders/PKs by their 2nd round opponent.

So is Tufts now the D1 version of Connecticut basketball (2014 and 2004)?
Tufts also won field hockey. One evil empire takes the touch from another.
2"-6" of snow expected in VA this morning.

Has Trinity fixed their inability to defend set pieces? Also, very similar weather forecast on Friday (to last year in Vermont) when they packed the bus at halftime and left the field.

Their 2025 squad is 1-0-0 in the Elite 8!![]()
Thanks for the write up and thoughts.
Anyone going to start making predictions?!
I won't make predictions but would love to see St O vs Emory in the final.

Massey is not for soccer! He has no clue what to do with ties and particularly post season ties. He is stuck in the past.

I'm hoping it's a hot day at Trinity for the game and the Trinity coach sends his boys on the bus for air-conditioning and comes back late for the second half again

November 18, 2025, 05:51:07 PMQuote from: jumpshot on November 18, 2025, 02:27:54 PMHey Sierra, one of the best natural grass soccer fields for decades in America is at Williams College, also in a beautiful mountain setting. Adjacent natural grass field reserved for the women's team is also a gem. In extreme weather soccer games can be moved to the artificial surface of the lighted football field on rare occasions. You would enjoy the experience should you ever have the opportunity.
