Thx.
I deleted my post. After looking through some previous "votes", I'm not positive the source providing the information are part of any official poll.

So what does losing three out of four in this series do to their chances of making the tournament?

Redlands has three to play and PP has 5 to play. Redlands holds the tie breaker

Seeding for the SCIAC will be interesting these last couple of weeks. La Verne has a 2 game lead over CMS who would hold the tie breaker. They have some tough games against the Chapman and Chabot, 3 against a good Redlands lineup, and 1 against PP which I can't tell is a mistake on the website. Cal Lu tied with La Verne has 6 very tough conference games to go.

My prediction is:
1. La Verne
2. CMS
3. Cal Lu
4. PP
5. Redlands

So looking at the SCIAC schedule, CMS looks to have an easy path to sealing a bid with Caltech and Cal Lu remaining. PP look to have a great shot at controlling their destiny if they can sweep Oxy and win the Cal Lu series. Redlands probably needs to either sweep La Verne or win the SCIAC. PP and Redlands will likely face off in the SCIAC "play in" game and the winner will be at a huge disadvantage for the second game.

How likely is it for McM to pull off the sweep? The Texas teams really came on strong in the second half. Makes for some exciting post-season tournaments!

Barring complete meltdowns, La Verne and Trinity should be in position to host a regional, correct? Is there any way the SCIAC would get 2 regionals if CMS were to jump Trinity by a few spots? Seems like it would be tough to make so many teams travel to SoCal.

I agree on PP. Same with your Redlands. Some teams ahead of them could have complete meltdowns, but you hate to hang your hopes on other teams losing.

Which SCAC teams do you feel could pull an upset and win the SCAC tournament?

Has the "geographic proximity" always been part of the regional placement? There are zero schools within 500 miles of the SCIAC teams. So if this is a firm rule then the SCIAC teams will be required to play each other. However, I don't think there are any going to be any other regional sites within 500 miles of the NWC winner either.

Still a lot of good matchups for the SCIAC. Redlands looks to be in a good position. Pomona should also have a chance to move up if they can take the CLU series.

Quote from: Bmo on April 13, 2025, 11:28:57 AMAgreed, but last year's selection process was completely different, and the committee had the option for two-team regionals. This year, they will have to fly a team out and then fly another team in to spread SCIAC teams across regions. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

That's a great point. Definitely creates more travel for more teams. It would be nice if they can be spread out again, but that's a big ask. The crazy thing, as seen this past weekend, any SCIAC team can beat the others.

Quote from: Bmo on April 13, 2025, 10:27:42 AMThe pool c bubble is actually closer to 47 due to pool a teams between between the cutline and NPI 65.

The SCAC hasn't had a good weekend as far as pool c is concerned. The SCIAC had a great weekend and is now is position for 4 total bids.  The downside being the SoCal regional might be the SCIAC tournament part 2 due to travel.

Last year they put the 4 SCIAC teams in different regionals. Pretty sure the SCAIC complaints were heard and accommodated.

Is there a link that covers the D3 selection criteria and tournament details?

Quote from: Ralph Turner on April 08, 2025, 12:39:32 AMIn the SCIAC PP is 5th at 6-6. They have CLU, CMS, Oxy and Cal Tech remaining, but have the tie-breaker over Redlands (2 wins to 1)
In 4th is Redlands (8-7), who has Oxy, Chapman and La Verne.
The SCIAC takes the top 5 now. I'm not really sure why they changed it, other than somebody was upset Chapman was left out last year

With CMS thumping La Verne in two of their three games, they have to be in consideration for the top team in the region right now. CMS pitching held a great offense to 13 runs over the series and the CMS bats hit the La Verne pitching hard, 25 runs for the series.

Huge series win for CMS over La Verne. Had a chance to sweep but had to settle for a split on Saturday. CMS is doing it all right now.... Elite hitting, great pitching, and great defense.
