New Paltz with a nice bounce back win versus Oneonta Wednesday and took car3 of business today against Canton. Will host Oneonta will be a very good game.

Platts. Finishes hot, after losing to Cortland reeled off five consecutive wins before a draw today against Buffalo. The well deserved point today makes Platts. The three seed and host Fredonia who they lost to earlier in the sessin.

Cortland rolls to another title. Oneonta limping to the finish line this year.

Oneonta - Has to be Canton, gets no benefit in NPI from it but loss is terrible. Then assuming wins in last two games and a New Paltz/Buffalo St win in tourney but loss in final to Cortland...best NPI score the needs at large big - 55.36 or thereabouts....today that's #33, which was the bubble number last year. Go win the next 5, get to the conference final, then worry about at-large bid.

Plattsburgh - Has to beat Potsdam and Buffalo St to end the regular season PLUS hope that they stay in the 3/4 slot to get one more win. Then beat likely New Paltz and Buffalo St. again but lose to Cortland in order to get an NPI of 55.413...like Oneonta, that's right on the bubble line. Go win the next 4, get to the final, then worry about at-large.

Buffalo St. - Has a bit more flexibility. Can lose one of last three, preferably Hobart where they will be the underdog. Win 2, lose to Hobart and NPI before conference tourney is 55.456 (win all is 56.94). Those wins would keep Buffalo in top 2 seed so only semi and final. Beat Oneonta, lose to Cortland. NPI is 55.48 with hobart L and 56.697 with all wins until conf final. Those numbers go down is the loss is to Oswego or Plattsburgh, probably need to win both of those to hold on to at-large hopes.

New Paltz - Has to win the auto-bid, win against Oneonta slightly helps, Canton win is dropped immediately, win two in conference tourney but lose in final and NPI is 54.77 which I don't think will be close enough to be at-large.

Cortland should get at-large bid if they lose in conference tourney, but everyone else has work to do, I think SUNYAC will be a 1-2 bid conference in the end. what's more likely is mixed results, none of these teams wins out and they all drop enough to where no second at-large is possible if Cortland wins conference tournament.

Great stuff love the details!

Bottom line is that even at the top levels in England, it's a difficult pathway and these are players who are at the very best clubs.  The idea that lots of college players are going to progress to long, well paid professional careers is optimistic at best.  I am guessing the ones that don't progress in England are some of the same ones coming in as more mature players at the college level and who would be undoubtedly attractive to many coaches.

Happens all the time, club players overseas (England, Germany etc. ) just look at the top D1 clubs loaded with european players. I was told a few years ago some of the european clubs provide a list of available or soon to be available players so they can be scouted by american colleges.

Cortland rolls along with a win.

After losing to Plattsburgh at home Wednesday 1-2, giving  up a 1-0 halftime lead. New paltz traveled to Buffalo. Buffalo played without their Striker, best player, Rivera. New Paltz with a tough draw today at Buffalo. They were up a man half of the second half. NEw Paltz scores off a free kick nice goal, as Buffalo player lost his mark and NP volleyed it in with 3 min. To go.

Buffalo scores a minute and a half later. I have to question the coaching or lack thereof. You are on the road in a must win to stay top 4 and you make no defensive changes with 3 min to go. That's awful coaching I feel for the squad.
NP travels to Oneonta next.

Plattsburgh dominates Oswego today.
Fredonia still alive with two winnable matches left could they possibly sneak in.

Buffalo with a draw versus Cortland, Buffalo holds serve and stays in the top spot in SUNYAC. Buff travels to Oneonta Wed.

New Paltz with a disappointing draw versus Oswego jeopardizing their top 4 spot and host Plattsburgh Wednesday. A win versus Platts. Will be big to secure a top 4 slot and a bye or a  home match. Platts needs a win to jump into the top 4.

Oneonta dominates possession and generates lots of corners and shots but cant get one in. Oneonta almost gives the game away with a player receiving his second yellow with 10min. Left in match. Have to say Oneonta really took it to Cortland who had no answers all match.

New Paltz with some good quality chances, had a good first half today versus Cortland. Then gave up two goals in less than a minute in early half off two set pieces Corner then a free kick both header goals. Cortland took over in second half. Coach Axtell with the second half adjustments again. Interestingly Cortland played long off their goal kicks all game.

New Paltz with a draw versus Scranton a tale of two halves, NP had the edge in first half and all Scranton in second half.

Cortland cotinues to roll with a big win over Vassar.

Quote from: CU_GKnight on September 14, 2025, 07:17:42 AMWhile I'm happy with how the Clarkson season has gone so far, especially getting a LL W at RIT I'm still thinking this is likely to be a 1 bid conference despite the better out of conference record.

Looking at Massey (not the best source but maybe the best available at this point) the LL out of conference record is 30-10-8 (W-L-T) (not sure why the difference from stlawus but close enough for an engineer to work with) but breaking it down by ranking versus:
Top 50: 0-3-0
51-100: 3-3-3
101-150: 3-1-1
151-200: 6-1-1
201-250: 7-1-1
251-300: 2-1-1
301-350: 5-0-0
351-400: 4-0-0

So it may be a better record but not sure if it is due to substantially better performance or scheduling weaker teams.

There are some big opportunities this week with:
Vassar @ Montclair St (#41)
Ithaca @ Cortland (#11)/vs Moravian (#101)
Clarkson @ Plattsburg(#56)/ @ Rochester (#102)
Union @ Williams (#4)
Skidmore @ Ramapo (#85)
RPI @ Oneonta (#64)

After that it is mostly LL matches with only 3 more matches against out of conference teams in the top 100.

Clarkson @ Platts should be a really good match
