Quote from: toad22 on May 12, 2026, 02:09:39 PMThere is good news for Williams fans coming from the Williams administration. There has been a distinct change in the attitude of the Administration toward winning. After a long period of indifference, if not outright hostility to sports, there are a number of tangible steps being taken to improve all sports. This is apparently due to the need to raise huge amounts of money for the complete overhaul of nearly all indoor sports facilities. Cost estimates I have heard start at $500 million. The Administration seems to feel that they can't raise the money without winning a lot more than they have in the last few years. Basketball seems to be a prime beneficiary. This is really good news. Basketball had suffered through a period where other priorities of Williams were greatly diminishing the ability to recruit enough high quality players. That period seems to be over. I look for men's basketball to improve very quickly. Go Ephs!

About ******* time.

Great win for the Ephs today to finish the season strong. Seems like them and Amherst are pretty much a guarantee to split every year at this point

Attendance numbers aren't actual numbers. They are random guesses from whoever is keeping live stats and has to enter the attendance before submitting the final box score. At least that was my experience doing live stats for NESCAC games over the last 4 years

Recent Williams athlete grad here—the lack of institutional support in comparison to other NESCACs is staggering. It seemed like every place we traveled (even Hamilton!) had an indoor turf facility for winter practice, meanwhile outdoor sports teams at Williams were stuck in a tiny gym during the winter the last two years

Big win for the Ephs tonight over Colby. Shared the ball well, shot it great (finally!) got some stops when they needed to. Fun game to watch

Even as Williams built a seemingly comfortable second half lead I had a feeling it would go down to the final possession like these games always do. Amherst hit some big shots and forced a few key turnovers while Williams went cold for awhile down the stretch and struggled from the free throw line. Elias Chin had a great game, he looks like a future star for sure. Great for the Ephs to pull that one out though, I agree that they seem to have a big coaching advantage in these games.

Conn's zone could make things tough on Tufts since Conn has some decent size and Tufts can get stagnant offensively but I suspect Gyimesi will be able to take advantage of some looks around the free throw line and mid post. Williams had some space there especially in the 2nd half but clearly wasn't comfortable taking those shots

Credit to Tufts for making some adjustments on defense and going on that impressive run. Williams defended pretty well but went ice cold and then got rattled and started turning the ball over - Tufts size and length on defense gave them a lot of problems.

Excited for Williams-Tufts tomorrow. While I'm a Williams fan teams with size like Tufts have certainly given the Ephs trouble the last few years, especially on the offensive glass. If Williams can avoid the slow starts that have hurt them at times then they can absolutely make this a game, just like they did both times last weekend. For a prediction I'd side with those predicting Tufts in a close one, hopefully I'm wrong.

I seem to remember some people saying Williams would lose both games by a combined 30+ points this weekend...
