Quote from: jumpshot on April 19, 2025, 05:31:40 PMNot so fast ... my view is that Williams should not have voted (if they did) for post-season football. The Ephs already end with a meaningful rivalry game, the season is of sufficient duration, the academic schedule in November is intense, vast differences exist in NESCAC regarding football admissions, emerging potential financial pressures, etc. In short, often "less is more." Perhaps the risk of being the odd person out (relative to Ivy League, others) outweighed the merit of defending a proven balance. Lots of possible unforeseen consequences ... stay tuned to assess the true value.

If Williams or Amherst is good enough to play another game the schools should support them. And if by some chance they make a run at a National Title then it will pay dividends to the program and players.  These kids have proven they can balance the work load and deserve to see how far their hardwork can take them.

Quote from: vman15 on April 17, 2025, 11:02:08 AMThe NESCAC Presidents will vote today on whether they will allow football to go to the playoffs! Hoping for an outcome that puts the student-athletes' experience first. Let us play!!

Did vote happen?  If so how did it go?

Looks like no combine invite for Perry. Anyone know his plan?  Is Duke Manyweather having a showcase work out for him?

Quote from: Scoops on January 19, 2025, 11:56:34 PMGood for the kid. Makes sense for him given his California roots, and that program at UC Davis is pretty good too. Sucks for the jumbos though. Definitely a major loss, especially in a year that they lose Timmins as well to graduation. I think that means they lose their entire starting secondary if I'm not mistaken? I know they were senior heavy last season at the position, and it doesn't look like they have a lot of younger guys that played a ton. They've been good against the pass the last couple of years, will be interesting to see if they can overcome those guys

Good for Ty.  And a late Christmas present for the QB's of the Cac, but Tufts will probably reload.

Quote from: nescac1 on January 13, 2025, 03:32:25 PMWhoops!  Yes, indeed, I meant Chase Vaughn ...

Milton High has been a pipeline to the Cac lately with last 3 QB's

Chase Vaughn - Wes
Owen McHugh - Wil
Patrick Miller - Col

Anyone know of any websites that follow NESCAC baseball?

Quote from: Jonny Utah on December 03, 2024, 01:45:24 PMIthaca has like 125 players on the roster but on the road they have the same 60 players that play at home.  Having a JV team with young talent can be an advantage but in the end it's a minor obstacle that Nescac teams can figure out how to get around.

Who if any of the NESCAC schools have JV football and if so who do they play? Also I have asked this before with no answer, but does anyone have any info on players quitting as a result of no playing time to concentrate on studies. All the  freshman and sophomores were undoubtedly major players in high school and now have to go back the beginning only they don't have the luxury of freshman and jv games.

Seems like a few jv games would keep their dreams alive.

How in the world can a team like Tufts or Trinity who have around 115 to 120 players make room for this. I would think these schools that have hogher numbers would be given more time to adjust recruiting and existing roster sizes.

I got to believe there is going to be some tough conversations between coaches and players about realistic chances of playing time and being cut.  For the student athletes benefit I hope these conversations about their future is done sooner rather than later.  Is there any rules about transferring within NESCAC that prohibits playing in year 1 of transfer?  Could be an interesting off season at Trinity and Tufts.

Quote from: Nescacman on November 22, 2024, 08:29:08 PMWord is that the NESCAC will impose an 84-man roster limit for 2025 as approved by the NESCAC Presidents. Will be interesting to see what impact this will have on the NESCAC hierarchy. As expected, those pushing for a lower limit were Williams and Amherst. Wesleyan, Hartford State, and Middlebury were supportive of a higher limit or no limit.

Is that for dressed roster or total roster?  Will teams be essentially red shirting players?  Feels like Trinity has 100+ players on sidelines whether in uniform or street clothes, I wonder if this will have a transfer portal fall out

Quote from: Ephs1 on November 19, 2024, 10:22:01 PMI would like to tip my hat to all the hard working players who don't win the awards. A player on Williams that comes to mind is Jack Dickinson. He never was quite able to lock down the starting quarterback job after Bobby left but continued to be a strong presence on the sidelines and the number one cheerleader for McHugh. He ended up being the long snapper and in one memorable sequence he subbed in at quarterback on third down and then on fourth down was the long snapper and downed the ball on the one yard line. It was really nice to see him end his career with a victory as the starting quarterback against Amherst, of course he still doubled as the long snapper!

JD is the definition of a leader. He may not have won an individual award, but he will he winning in life with his positive attitude and leadership skills.

I am sure every team has guys like JD and the younger guys should learn as much as they can from guys like them.
