Blue streaks looked good this weekend. Ethan Glossa is the story for this team. First JUCO guy to join the program in a few years and is making a huge impact both in the box and on the base paths.  Jake Corrl proving he's a winner leading the OAC with 4 Wins on the season. Also how about Austin Miller shutting it down out of the pen with 3 saves on the year. Think we're in a good spot to play two with Dr.Acula's squad tomorrow if it isn't too cold. Should be an interesting matchup since anything can happen in midweek madness. This league, you gotta love it.

This midweek slate is great. Anything could happen and I won't be surprised. We should learn a lot from these matchups

Quote from: BobcatQB on March 23, 2025, 07:25:03 PMZiance and Rocky give the Pios a good 1-2 that will keep them in and be able to win games.  Ziance is  power pitcher in low 90's and will continue to improve, only a soph.   Rocky is lefty with good movement and always around the zone.

I'll get to see JC next weekend as Muskies visit.
I know Ziance personally, kid is legit, puts in incredible amounts of work in the offseason and should have an amazing season. Won't be surprised if he continues to put up good numbers, only question is if Brewer will be able to keep him at etta after he does.

Sorry I'm late to the party on the Streaks but how bout a sweep on the road at otterbein to open up 2-0 in conf. When you score 32 runs in a series that's just good hitting even if Ott is a total boom box (Side note: I wonder if they've done any renovations to the worst away bullpen in the OAC. I know they received lots of complaints around the league a few years ago, but if they still have kids warming up from 55 feet in the bullpen we've got issues) Then the streaks split with 23 Case on Sunday, thats a win in my book.

I also can't be the only one that is surprised that Musky is receiving 20 votes still after dropping a game to Wilmington?! Maybe the voters are just looking at records but at some point we have to factor in SOS. We'll see how they perform against JCU this weekend. I'm just putting musky on fraud watch for the time being and if they lose both I'm fully out on their season. Should be a good series, really excited to see who ends up on top.

How about Jake Corll for the Blue Streaks?! Opponents batting just under .150 through 11.1. Much deserved pitcher of the week for him. The part I like the most is 9Ks no walks. Good to see someone in the #29 jersey pitching at a high level. Picking up right where Midea left off. Could be an exciting season for Corll and the Streaks if this keeps up. Side note, the Blue pinstripes might be one of the best uniforms in D3 baseball. If you have't seen them, you have to check them out.

Have a buddy at OWU currently. Mott is a great guy but doesn't operate the team in a way that puts them in a position to win a lot of games. Knowing a handful of current and alumni from OWU, I get the vibe from their whole roster that they are just happy to be there instead of trying to win a championship. Also, heard that Musky is the real deal so will be interesting to see how they do in OAC play. Get the feeling that it might not be business as usual for the Muskies

Streaks are hot! JCU off to a great start down in Florida. Starting pitching from Corll and Rinehart was solid. Same to be said for Freeman who punched out 9 in 4.1 innings. Frankly, just left him in way too long and if a change is made sooner, we're probably 4-0. So be it, still early. Good to see veterans playing like veterans and some of the younger guys getting their chances early stepping up to the challenge. Love this start

Quote from: Dr. Acula on February 25, 2025, 09:23:36 PMThank god you're around because for eternity JCU baseball has been a complete mystery on here.  Honestly, I can't recall a Streak baseball poster ever.  Sadly once the OG Etta posters dropped off years ago I spend a lot of time posting into the void LOL.  I never cared because I follow it and watch the games because I enjoy it.  Posting here is just the end result.  Happy to have you and BobcatsQB around to at least maybe be able to banter a little!
Haha my roommate and I would read your posts all the time when I was at JCU so there wasn't a lot of back and forth but you had consistent readers! Now that I've moved on, I figured this is a fun was to stay in touch with what happens around the OAC. I refuse to let the D3 boards die.

JCU heading down to Russmatt invitational this weekend. Should be an interesting season for the Streaks after a down year last year but there is a lot to like from this squad.

Offensively the team is in a good spot returning 4 .300+ bats in infielders Persichetti, Mayle, and Harmon with Daugenti (.406) holding down Centerfield. The infield remains untouched from a year ago with Persichetti and Mayle on the left side, Harmon at 1B, and Funderberg and Haracz sharing time at 2B. DH/3B Jack Beiter also adds some depth and has a power bat. We lost a veteran and great team leader behind the plate in Lamere so will be interesting to see whether Bach or one of the 6 new freshman catchers will inherit those innings. Surely there has to be some talent waiting there, right?!

Besides Daugenti in the outfield, there is some older names that look to make themselves permanent solutions in the corner outfield positions. Fritenger and Connolly immediately come to mind both with good bats who hit around .280 last spring and can swing with some power situationally. Balfour, Suvak, and a handful of new faces also will surely see some playing time as well. Interested to see who sticks in the long run.

Pitching was the issue last year regressing from a 4.89 era in 2023 to a 7.23 in 2024. Also a whip over 1.5 in the long run is not going to produce winning baseball. The good news is that the staff was extremely young last year with only 2 expirienced arms, both lefties, Higley and Darrow. I would expect Freeman and Miller to be the 1,2 weekend punch but Baskerville, Simon and Rinehart should have all taken a step forward and should look to eat a lot of the innings this spring as well. Also lefty sub pitcher Owen Gerba comes off a great summer and should make AB's uncomfortable for batters this year.

Overall the team is in a great spot, with the two biggest areas to improve upon from last year being run production and pitching. I think this squad has what it takes to make it back to the postseason and has a ton of upside. I guess only time will tell. Don't sleep on the streaks in 2025

Almost here
Glad to see another mediocre write up. Let me get this straight... John Carroll wins the OAC in 2023 and goes back to back years in the write up without a complete sentence written about their team. I'm sorry but I will never understand that. It seems as though each year they get tired of writing by the time they get to the OAC and do the bare minimum hoping nobody will notice. At least the season is almost here
