Some food for thought after the first few weeks:
1. Amherst
Serpone has gone off the rails. Every single game is a clown show. His team honestly deserves better. Nuhu, King Obed, and Dinzeo have all been a handful for opponents this year, but they just can't get it together. Losing to strong Middlebury and Conn sides to start the year is a rough hole to get out of.
2. Bowdoin
The Polar Bears have rebounded well after a disappointing Salve Regina tie due to an own goal. Beating #1 Wesleyan and #11 Williams, both with clean sheets, is impressive. King has been phenomenal in goal, and with Banks back, if they can keep last year's momentum, the Polar Bears could be real contenders.
3. Middlebury
Middlebury has been great. Other than the Hamilton tie (congrats to Hamilton), they have been dominant this year. Beating a Conn team 3-0 that hasn't changed much since last year's Sweet 16 is definitely a statement win. My only concern is how long their back line can keep this clean-sheet run going. With how they attack, I wonder if their defenders can account for limited help.
4. Trinity
Congratulations to Trinity. It brings a smile to my face seeing them win. Their first NESCAC win in 3 years (I believe) is a step in the right direction. Let's hope they can keep it up and score points against a stronger-than-usual Colby team this year.
