Augustana and Elmhurst have four games to play.
#2
Those Augustana teams employed multiple quarterbacks during their 1983-86 championship run.  Defensive tackle Lynn Thomsen started every game during that run and graduated with a 49-0-1 w-l record and is in the College Football Hall of Fame.  The one tie was 0-0 versus Elmhurst in the 1986 season opener.  Augustana started the 1987 season 10-0 before losing to Dayton in the playoffs. The 60-game unbeaten streak remains a record across all divisions of college football.

Gregory Sager- I've been on record many times in this room as saying that it couldn't be done, because a major-city urban school couldn't draw the necessary volume of quality recruits in what is undeniably a suburban sport.

Greg, your eastern Vikings have already proven you wrong on this point, no matter how the remaining games unfold.  I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on what specifically Rooks and company are doing differently from a half century of predecessors.

Any word on what D1 job he will be taking?

Concordia does appear to have adjusted their name for promotional reasons.  I have no problem with that.  Didn't North Park College re-brand to university for similar promotional reasons?  Both school's reasoning makes sense to me.

I have no direct insights on Chuck's well-being, but a brief review of his posting history shows that he was quite active until May 2022.  Since then, he's had just five posts, approximately one every other month.  The most recent one was on Friday in the MIAA football room.  He was active (lurking) earlier today.

I miss your insights Mr. Ypsi.

Send me all the corn Gregory!  You neglected to mention Augustana's spiked football helmets.  In fairness, that joke is from the football board.

Multi-Regional Topics / Re: Conference changes

Thank you for these updates!  Why are there so many changes occurring in the East and Northeast, and very few changes in the West and Midwest?

Nope.  Not "Q".

North Park also has five banners on the wall.  The rest of us can only dream. :-*

I don't want to make a big deal about this but I knew the names 24 hours BEFORE the previous post said he knew them.

Deepthroat,
Congrats on having the names 24 hours before itsnotmeitsyou said he had them. I'm sending you a + 1 for that.  :)
However, I'm glad you don't want to make a big deal out of it, because the names were first known back on April 18th!
Give me a couple minutes please, and I'll explain.

Again, I don't want to make a big deal, but I actually knew them on April 17th. So.....

I don't want to make a big deal of it, but I knew the names three weeks before James Naismith invented basketball. ;D

I was the one who conceived the rules that I then presented to Dr. Naismith!  He got all the glory that I deserved.   ;D

There is, however, an Indiana University in Pennsylvania.

I kind of liked when you could smite specific posts. It actually made more sense. Instead of wondering why you got dinged, at least you'd know what post people didn't like.

Actually, I've gotten dinged over a dozen times the past 2 weeks. I never said anything about it because, frankly, I don't care. It doesn't hurt my feelings at all and I don't feel loved when someone "applauds" me. I'm guessing others can be a little more sensitive about it though. If anything, recently, it's amused me that someone has taken time out of their lives to purposely smite me for no reason at all. When I was getting dinged, I joked to myself that I must have stolen their pick in a fantasy league draft.

I've been dinged 35 times in the last couple of months.  Can anyone top that?  ???
