It's a shame UWSP Intramural league had to shut down, robbing the Pointers of a possible recruiting hot bed.

Ripon College senior Trent Jones has been named Midwest Conference Player of the Year, as released Thursday by the conference office. That marks the sixth time this decade, and 10th time in school history, that a Ripon College men's basketball player has received that honor. Jones is the lone Ripon player to make this year's All-Conference team, earning First Team recognition.

So the press release lists some stats for each of the first or second team choices except the player of the year??

Final from Christopher Newport:
UW-Stevens Point 61
#11-Christopher Newport 58
Pointers sweep in Virginia by beating CNU 61-58. Led wire to wire and move to 5-0 on the season. Ethan Bublitz was 22-22 from the line during the weekend, now at 96% for the year. They may earn a couple of votes in the poll this week

Watched most of the Oshkosh game tonight. Fravert had the best dunk at the D3 level I've seen...power dunk through traffic, then flexed on them on the way back to the other end. I hope video of that makes it onto social media.
Not bad, but I think this one by Dan Tillema in 2009 tops that one:

We beat La Crosse (unlike last season)! Pointer schedule is up before theirs.
https://athletics.uwsp.edu/schedule.aspx?path=mbball
I see we head out to Newport News, Va and participate in the CNU tournament. UT-Dallas is also involved, so I'm hoping we can work something out with CNU and not have to play the Comets since we'll see them over the holidays. I suppose if we both win (or both lose) we can avoid playing UT-Dallas at CNU's tournament.
No St. Thomas this year, might not want to overdo the competition for when the Tommies join the WIAC.

Nice work Tom!
DITTO Tom
Looks like Point's stay near the top of the league is in serious jeopardy as they lose all five starters and 83% of their points, 69% of their rebounds and 77% of minutes played. They return a couple of players that made strides at the end but unless they find some transfers they can plug in to the lineup they will be looking up at the rest of the league. I'm sure Whitewater will find their usual number of transfers that will enable them to remain competitive.
So what happens to Semling??
"A two-year show-cause order for the head coach. During that period, he must attend one NCAA Regional Rules Seminar and receive ethics training. The committee acknowledged his 13-game suspension during the 2016-17 season and required attendance at the 2016 NCAA Regional Rules Seminar. The committee noted it could have prescribed a more stringent show-cause order if the university had not taken this action."

We'd probably argue that show-cause is a significant impact as well. At this point, UWSP hasn't released any statements, but Semling will be gone by the end of the season at the latest, one would think. (UWSP faces a March 22 deadline to show cause why they should continue to employ him.)
If his job is in jeopardy we find out tomorrow, thought the AD says the job is his according to that article. https://www.d3hoops.com/notables/2019/02/ncaa-stevens-point-finally-close-case

I realize I haven't been very active on this board since I moved to warmer climes but is there even an Oshkosh poster/fan here that wants to brag about their team? That said the Titans recent run is reminiscent of the great Pointer teams from 2004-05. While not in the same zip code defensively as that UWSP team was, the Titans boast more offensive diversity and firepower than that Point squad. While they don't have the superstar players like Kalsow and Bennett, any one of their starting five is capable (and has this year) of scoring 20 or more in any given game. Should be an excellent game tonight against Swarthmore, hope Oshkosh becomes the fourth member of the WIAC champions club!

I got the Guiford info from Titan TV! H!ey Titan TV you did a great job on both games
I agree. Great job!
Yikes!!! The guy and the girl? You guys ara too kind to your locals. The guys that did the Augie Wheaton game were outstanding. I had to turn the audio of the Oshkosh game off....just my humble opinion.
Me too. They were awful. The announcers they had for when UWSP played at UWO during the WIAC tournament (not sure if it was the same duo or not) were brutal too.
They were the same and I have to agree though I'd probably tone down the "brutal" thing a tad. After all they're broadcasters in training. They definitely could have been more prepared for the first game.
Was it me or were there no live stats last night?
The comment she made about the NAIA changing into NCAA DIII had me checking to see if I missed something important today.
