Men's soccer / Re: ODAC
Last post by Garden12 - Yesterday at 08:48:31 AMFrom my perspective, W&L seems to have one of the best back lines in the country. They've played n extremely difficult SOS and have barely allowed any goals. If their attack was stronger I could see their junior cb being an all American (as all American status seems to follow team success for defenders)

Women's soccer / Re: 2025 Women's Soccer Top 25
Last post by CentPA - Yesterday at 06:15:17 AMSo far this week the top 25 have seen three upsets all of which were home games! #3, #4, and #16 lost this week at home on Tuesday late afternoon, Tuesday night, and Wednesday night respectively:
#3 Tufts lost at home to unranked Amherst 1-2,
#4 Messiah lost at home to unranked Penn State - Harrisburg 0-1, and
#16 Misericordia lost at home to unranked York (PA) 1-2.
We'll see what happens this weekend. With the UAA back in action and having all 8 teams in the top 25 (such a tough conference), there are bound to be at least 4 more top 25 with losses (or maybe a tie or two) this weekend.

Last post by gobigred425 - October 16, 2025, 10:34:15 PMQuote from: hazzben on October 16, 2025, 01:47:20 PMThe D1 transfer QB route isn't a bad problem to have, but I know Bethel landed a QB recruit this year that was down to them and SJU. One of the things that helped was simply pointing out it's been over a decade since SJU has had a QB1 for the season that didn't first transfer in from a scholarship program. Hard to argue against Eerdmann and Syverson and those results, it does however make it difficult to land guys right out of HS.
Yeah, because Jaran Roste and Cooper Drews for sure didn't transfer to Bethel from another school...

General Division III issues / Re: Flo Sports
Last post by ziggy - October 16, 2025, 09:03:15 PMQuote from: ziggy on August 26, 2025, 11:26:33 AMQuote from: Ron Boerger on August 19, 2025, 11:31:45 AMIt's not Flo, but the MIAC has decided they want to get in on the PPV action and will charge either $10/game or $25/sport to watch its playoff contests. That could rapidly add up to more than the yearly cost of a Flo subscription. It's supposed to be a trial; regular season webcast remain free (for now at least).
The MIAC likely won't be the only conference doing this. I'm not sure if this directly factors into the decision making but an interesting comment made to me was that a conference going this route allows them to observe first-hand the impact charging has on viewership without having already signed over your rights in a multi-year deal.
Bingo.

Last post by Nescacman - October 16, 2025, 08:49:35 PMQuote from: Trin9-0 on October 16, 2025, 04:03:04 PMFair enough, Spring. Here's a few luke warm takes to get us back on track:
Amherst will have at least 3 more losses.
The Ephs finally get over the Wes hump.
Bants tie for the league title with Williams despite the head-to-head (petic after their hotly debated/disputed co-championship in '23).
Colby wins the CBB and finishes above Tufts.
Midd loses a nailbiter on Saturday to drop to 2-4 but then wins out to salvage a winning season.
Can't wait to revisit these Hs8-1 takes in 4 weeks...We'll take the under.

General Division III issues / Re: Flo Sports
Last post by Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan) - October 16, 2025, 07:56:01 PMI don't think there was any doubt the WIAC was seeking to monetize their broadcasts - the big question was how. I do believe this is an experiment for them - I think they want to see how it compares, revenue-wise, to selling ads on a free broadcast.
I don't think the WIAC is naive about the size of their fanbase across the state.
I'd also suggest, if your local WIAC school already has prominent local businesses sponsoring - voice your opinion there (in the kindest possible way). "I'll spend more money with you if I don't have to pay for a WIAC subscription."
I think, ultimately, everybody wants the same thing - for the schools and athletic departments to be as well funded as possible - there are lots of good ways to do that, especially in the WIAC, where large public schools with big footprints can drive a lot more than just subscriptions.
