Point has been so bad on the defensive end so far tonight that they switched to a halfcourt zone for part of the 2nd half.  There will be some soul searching on the defensive end in the next tape watching session.  Getting caught behind screens over and over and over.

Well, today was the day many were wondering about. Michael Metcalf-Grassman returned to the court at Carroll. Contributed 8 points in 19 minutes and 3 key, flying in blocks.

I like Waupaun's Hawkinson making a few plays today and contributing 11 points. Brandon Beck is obviously still the show.

I think today was more accurate of what the rest of the season will look like rather than the first three games. There's going to be runs and hope to force enough turnovers that your own aren't too costly. But, absolutely have to make your free throws.

All that and it's not too terrible for the Titans at 3-1 with roadies at Edgewood and Augie next week.

Just watched the game and the LaCrosse game after my chicken shift. Metcalf-Grassman looked a little rusty with the ball and that is not surprising. They have an interesting team. If they start hitting 3P at a high clip they'll be tough to beat.

LaCrosse was pretty deliberate compared to Oshkosh. Much more concentrated talent. If they would suffer an injury to the  wrong player it would be devastating.

Platteville loses on the road at Gustavus Adolphus 87-72. In the 1st half and turnovers killed Platteville. In addition GAs 3 point shooting opened up a 10 point lead at halftime. GA kept the margin at 10 or greater throughout the 2nd half. Max Love led Platteville with 17 points.

Yeah, that was painful to watch at times. The zone helped for a bit. What looked like a frustrating, disappointing loss, turned out to be a real nice come-from-behind win vs a good Millikin opponent. Millikin is picked 2nd to last in the CCIW, so we'll see if they're 5-0 start coming into Quandt really means anything.

Point was bad for 3/4 of the game and found themselves down by nine with about 10 minutes to go. They slowly chipped away and took a very brief lead at 56-55 with about four minutes to go. They took the lead for good with 2:33 to go after two Butler FTs.

Butler lead the way again, with 21. Logan Baumgartner had 17 and 7, but also had 7 TOs. Miron and Krohn also scored in double digits 14 and 10, respectively. Combs continues to have nice all-around games with 5 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists with no turnovers. Dernbach continues to lean heavily on the starters with only Raimer getting double-digit minutes off the bench.

I would like to see Manz get more minutes. At 6'6" he's one of the taller bench players. Josh Bocher had a nice debut game the previous night, but did not see action last night. Isaiah Moore is out injured.

The defense has been abysmal for Pointer standards.

Next game is at North Park next weekend.

Ripon was in Point's horribly named "pre-Thanksgiving Tournament" but didn't play Point. The Redhawks have a player, freshman Landon Lee, son of ex-Pointer Shawn Lee. If this is going to be an annual event, just name it the Bennett Invite or go back to the Sentry World Classic.

I'd go talk to the Hilltop and see if they'd be willing to sponsor it.  The Hilltop Holiday Classic has some alliteration to it.

Apparently beating the #21 team by 3 on a neutral floor and then losing to the #16 team by 7 on road vaults you from RV all the way up to #17. Congrats Oshkosh? Seems odd, but I'm not a voter and never pretended to be one. Ok, that's a lie. I ran the poster's poll for awhile.

Anyway, La Crosse moved up from 7 to 3 on the heels of wins over ranked Hampden Sydney and Virginia Wes.

Platteville dropped out from 18th to 27 points. Stevens Point gained 9 points and Eau Claire received 1 point.

Early season rankings are suspect but agree Oshkosh jump seems a bit much, maybe based on fact MMG back playing.  Lacrosse is legit, have no problem with their ranking. They're beating tough teams on the road.  Platteville drop seems appropriate, they might not be ranked again this season.  Still lots to learn about this season's WIAC teams.  With some common opponents, December could tell us a lot before conference begins.
