I'll say!

I saw TJ Scannell (#0) on a locker.  Is he back?

Yes,

Yes, two years ago TJ suffered a season-ending injury in the third game and so has another year of eligibility.

That is HUGE news.  He's a gamechanger.

I messaged Urban about these because it is so unbelievable how much better they are since when I was there. I thought the prior locker room was also amazing in comparison to what we had! Safe to say Trinity finally gets that those sorts of things can really help move the needle for recruits.

The look on those young men's faces says it all.  Kudos to Coach for pulling together the donors who funded that project.

There was a story last spring about the department also redoing the locker room for the baseball team, and they too seemed to be doing it right.

Just a hair over three weeks from opening weekend. Is everyone feeling the optimism of a new season?

Here's the slate of games:
Belhaven @ Millsaps (on 9/3)
Maryville @ Heidelberg
Bethany @ Sewanee
Centre @ Hanover
McMurry @ Southwestern
TLU @ Trinity
Washington(MO) @ Rhodes
Berry @ Huntingdon

Thoughts?  Games you think will be interesting?  TLU@Trinity looks like one to watch.

Interested to see how the Berry and Centre games go as well.

The roster has been updated little by little over the last few days. It's official. The Coby Walton I suspected to be the Tennessee Tech transfer is on the roster. This will be his Junior year. No stats from Georgia Southern or TTU, but a 6'1, 205 former 3 star prospect looks to be a good way to replace Bryson Rollins on paper. Hope he connects with Jalen McCullough a few times to make the preseason AA turn into the end of year list.

Maryville has a defensive back transfer from Sewanee. John Wolfenbarger. What caliber player is he?

6'0, 190# last year, started all nine games he appeared in (as a sophomore), 41 tackles (28 solo) and broke up three passes.  His second-best game came against Maryville, interestingly enough - 9 tackles (5 solo).  Did not record a TFL last year and shared one the year before; has never recorded an INT.  Seems a decent if not spectacular D3 DB.

I found a hudl link with his highlights. Big loss for Sewanee. Kid isn't afraid to stop the run.

Interesting that the small bio on the webpage said he was born in Knoxville (although graduated from Topsail HS in NC). Makes me wonder if he's somehow related to Dylan Wolfenbarger, one of Maryville's best LBs from the early/mid '10s. He was from Knoxville and the Wolfenbarger surname isn't too common.
