Good for him but that is kind of crazy to me. WAC has 3 winning seasons since 2000. Seems like it is going to hard to win there too. 4th place behind JHU, Swat, and F&M gets you nothing in that league. 5th place in the NESCAC could make the tournament. Not trying to come across as an elitist but seems a lot different than leaving other jobs in that conference

Chestertown is a nice place to live, though.

Bucket beat me to it, I was about to post that ... Chestertown is one of the most charming towns in the U.S. for sure. (not that there is anything wrong with New London!)

I suspect it's much more about how much time and effort has been put in to get where they are and wanting to see it through.  Hopkins is always going to be good, but there aren't guaranteed juggernauts anywhere else anymore.  I think WAC could be competitive under the right circumstances.

Again, just because he's not desperate to leave doesn't mean he wouldn't go somewhere else.

That WAC team was decent last year.  They went 0-13 in conference, but there were a lot of close games the young squad couldn't close out.  We all know how easily that can flip with some experience.  I want to see him stay, because I want to see how it plays out.

I think, beyond the investment, the rationale for staying is the same as why Sweeney left for F&M.  It's just going to be easier to make the tournament in the CC.

Swat wasn't any good before Kosmalski got there.  The possibilities are broader in the CC, for sure.

The gap between the two schools on D3Datacast's efficiency rankings this season was 247 spots

Never thought I'd see my mom's hometown mentioned on a NESCAC hoops board. Love Chestertown!

I am so happy about the reversal of attitude toward sports by the Williams administration. I talked with a coach (not basketball) who told me that he was stunned when, at a meeting of coaches, an administration official announced that "excellence" is what they wanted from every team. The official when on to explain that "excellence" meant being near the top, or at the top of the league standings most years. The promise was made that the coaches would be provided with every tool needed to make this happen.
This is a gigantic turnaround. The nicest way I can describe the administration's attitude in the past has been benign neglect. Without institutional support for athletics, nothing is possible, with support everything is possible.
