Sheesh Trinity is going to be a unanimous preseason number one I suspect.  Just loaded at every spot with a lot of guys who will have to sit who'd play big roles elsewhere.  Any intel on who this transfer is?

Tufts looks stacked as well, a top ten team for certain, and yet hasn't come close to Trinity's level.

I believe it is Nate Freisthler from Rutgers. He was walk on and did not play this year. Will certainly give them depth at the center position.

Agree Trinity should be number 1. Lose 2 players from their top 10 and still have the 4 core now senior players.

Nescac1 you provide great lists of the players in the portal. From last year and this years list, seems that lots of players don't find new homes.  Do you know if most just go back to original school.

D3Bball he seems like a Callahan-Gold type which should make them even more potent.  I expect they will go ten deep as usual this year.

I imagine most D3 guys who don't find a home in the portal stick with their original school.  A lot just want to test the waters and see what interest may be out there.  You have little to lose and with so much NIL money it's worth a shot ...

Looking at the tape, I'm not sure how much that's going to elevate Trinity. Certainly won't be a bad depth piece.  I've been wrong about a lot of things and that's certainly possible here.

D3BBALL

Agree not sure how much he cracks the top 10, but they lack depth after losing 2 bigs during this past season, so he will at least give them depth.

Larry Anderson retired today after 30+ years as head coach of MIT. I recall that there was reporting at the time that he had been the favorite for the Amherst job in 2020 but withdrew from consideration to stay at MIT. Since then, MIT has had 1 winning season after a decade of dominance and Amherst's struggles have been well documented. I always found that decision to be a lose lose

Congrats to him on 30 years, he had a nice run.
Not sure his style would have been a good fit in the NESCAC. Was not big on defense, I think he makes Coach Strahorn look like Tom Thibodeau on defense, lol!

I found this job description of the open Colby Men's basketball head coach position.  It reads like a parody. Who wrote this?  What is going on in Colby Atheltics?

There may be occurrences of employees, past employees, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations.

While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the office space as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities.

There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged personal computer use which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor.

An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to perform essential position functions.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focus quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasks as well.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds.

Operates on courts, gymnasium, and training rooms.  General campus environment.  Several weeks of domestic travel and frequent evening and weekend work required throughout the year.

It certainly reads a little crazily but I don't think it specifically has anything to do with Strahorn. My read on it is that there is a lot of verbiage in there that is designed to protect them from any sort of discriminatory issues - i.e, what if someone in a wheelchair applies for the job?

I don't know, just a guess. Also curious to know what names appear as linked to the job this late in the cycle outside of Dave McLoughlin

That's all the boilerplate for every job Colby posts, for example here's the posting for a chorale director: https://www.higheredjobs.com/state/details.cfm?JobCode=179152370&Title=Chorale%20Conductor

Yikes.

Crazy language in my view

Just checking to see if the board is working

I'll toss something out there -- this has to be among the very best, likely the best, senior classes we've ever had in NESCAC.  Trinity has three potential all-Americans in Vetter, Okorougo, and Lazarre, and Tufts two in Gyimesi and Morakis, which is a big reason why Trinity is a lock for national pre-season number one (likely unanimous) and Tufts will almost certainly be in the top ten to start the year.  And there is also a lot of depth with Elias Espinosa, Max Poulton, Alex Lee, Hudson Hansen, Josh Bernstein, Tristan Joseph, Brady Coyne, Garret Keyhani, Kevin Reeves and Jackson Cormier all guys who will be in the mix for all-league honors and several surely in the all-region picture as well.  And plenty of solid depth players as well throughout the league.

I'd expect that when all is said and done next year's all-league team is dominated by seniors - Babacar Pouye and Ray Cuevas are the only two non-seniors I'd say would belong on a pre-season all league (top 14 guys) squad. If I was putting such a squad together, I think I'd go with:

First team: Vetter, Okorougo, Lazarre, Gyimesi, Morakis, Espinosa, Pouye (that's a loaded first team for sure)
Second team: Poulton, Cuevas, Lee, Hansen, Joseph, Cormier, and pick anyone remaining from the above list or maybe Jon Medley, Jared Berry or Aidan Yates could sneak on.

The second team has a lot of guys who are potential first-team level talents for sure, but there are just so many accomplished vets returning ahead of them.
