In Pat's article, Fuline made a point of depth being the biggest factor when kids decide to enter the portal. This is one of Fuline's strengths, in my opinion. He never hesitated to use youngsters off the bench and it really paid off at the end of the season. Cedarville being mentioned for Casenheiser, I wonder just how much NIL money is available at such non descript school?? Would you go to a losing  program for a few bucks, when Mount is in position to make a long run into the tourney next season? I believe that, although Casenheiser was a big part of the success last year, the Mount depth and adding a couple good players will more than make up for his loss.

Patrick Coleman

There are some pretty non-descript D-III schools who just happen to have one guy with deep pockets who wants to fund NIL in a significant way.

Looks like Casenhiser received another D2 offer.  U Indy this time.  The Greyhounds were 17-13, 14-6 in the GLVC.

Casenhiser committed to D2 Eckerd (FL).  I barely know about the D2 schools in OH so I have no clue about D2 schools elsewhere.  At a minimum he moves up a level and gets to wear shorts and slides walking back to his dorm after games and that's not a bad start.  Good luck, Chance!

Patrick Coleman

That conference plays good D-II hoop. I bet Chance played in front of more fans at Mount Union than he will at Eckerd, though, based on perusing some box scores.

Eckerd College?  does that count as "transfer-up"?  current NCAA is a f'ing joke

Fuline leaving Mount Union to go to University of Cincinnati, as an assistant.  HUGE LOSS.  I am so bummed out. He is a great coach and good guy.  Many will miss him.  Good luck Mike, and thank you!

Dr. Acula

That is an absolutely crushing loss.  I don't know how you can come close to replacing someone like Fuline.  He gave us a helluva 15 years and a lot of fun as a fan.  I've said before that he turned Mount hoops into appointment viewing for me.  I knew every tip time because I was going to watch every game if I could.  Sad day for all of us, but a wonderful day for Fuline and his family.

My hope is that he goes to UC for a stint and then gets a D1 HC job at somewhere like YSU/MAC school if that's what he wants.  He's certainly paid his dues.  And I will certainly be rooting for him no matter where he goes in the future.  Thanks for the ride, Coach!

I've heard the Fuline rumor since basically the end of the season.  I wonder if these Mount Union guys going into the portal was because they knew, too?

going to be tough to "replace" Fuline.  But the Mount job is a much, much better job than it was 15 years ago.  Props to Coach Fuline for building it from the ground up to a perennial top 15 type program.  It'll be interesting to see if they stay in-house and promote, or who applies from the outside.

Feels like a job for somebody with Ohio connections for sure.  I'm sure there are a lot of options out there, two current d3 HCs who came to mind were Chris Sullivan (although he's got a pretty good thing going on at Denison) or maybe Nick Sales from RHIT, who spent all that time at Marietta.
