Not sure if I have seen this posted elsewhere so I will put htis here.

Quote"We hope that a reduction in contest minimums will provide flexibility to our member schools as they work to reopen during what is a very uncertain and complex time. We understand this won't fix everything for everyone, but we believe it is the right move at this time and we will remain flexible moving forward," said Tori Murden McClure, chair of the committee and Spalding president.

Baseballs minimum is now 17 and Football 5.

No mention of whether maximums will be lowered too, as they were in D2 and the NAIA.

They won't change maximums in DIII ... there is no reason to do it. No school/program ever has to hit the maximum. Many do, but it isn't a requirement. I have said elsewhere I do think national committees will need to evaluate teams who don't play as many games a bit differently in the next year or so because of how much things are being affected ... but there is absolutely no need to change the maximum games needed. It only punishes programs who are able to play that amount of games. It also punishes schools in conferences whose schedules don't allow a lot of out of conference games to lose out on non-conf affairs for no reason than they can't play the games due to maximum limits.

There's also a big difference between playing 18 d3 games out of 18 total, due to travel restrictions and playing 18 d3 games out of 25, when you intentionally schedule non-qualifying opponents.  The numbers look the same, but you're going to give the benefit of the doubt to the former more easily than the latter.
