Alex Sorenson, Head Assistant at Loras the last two years has taken the same position at North Central of the CCIW, where he previously starred as an All-American.

Additional info on the CCIW board (Region 8), if interested.

It wasn't mentioned on this board, but Central will have a new coach next year. The assistant coach, Conor Riordan, has been named head coach. I was so disappointed to see Coach Steinkamp leave as I thought he would retire from Central after a very long and successful career. He will still be in Pella and hopefully funneling players our way from Pella Christian where he will be coaching his son soon.

Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

I can't say I follow a lot of ARC basketball, as I am mainly a football guy. But if Loras is having a good season, I would find myself tuning into a game or two, especially in the conference tournament. This will completely deter me from watching any ARC conference tournament play. As someone who is a fan of the school but not a huge basketball guy, the conference will have completely lost my viewership.

Congrats ARC...

Awesome play by Central in defeating UD at UD. Three Central players had double doubles.

From Central article about the game: Forward Owen Schipper (sophomore, Waukee HS) continued his great play with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Schipper did his scoring with great efficiency, shooting 9-11 from the field (82%) and 4-5 from beyond the arc (80%). He also made all three of his free throw attempts, finishing with an unheard of 101.46 true shooting percentage!

Loras just landed 6'5", 190 Jake Willems, who averaged 12.7 and 5.2 for Augustana last season. He'll be a junior for the Duhawks in 2026-27.

Chances should be high that Willems will see significant PT. Primarily at the expense of returners who didn't play much last season, and any incoming freshman guards.
