Mose having more seating in your new digs will be cool but for me one of the reasons I love D3 is the intimate surroundings.

From what I've seen/heard you will be getting the best of both at the "new Shoe"-- more seats, and still the d-III intimacy.

Of the remaining gyms(excluding the Shoe), what do you guys think is the BEST facility? the gym with the best envirnoment? The worst facility? worst environment?

Interesting find by Drake. I'd be curious to see the scoring increase from each of those on the list, however. I'm going to guess McCoy's is the lowest by far at 1.4.

I got a chance to do a little more digging on the stats I came up with earlier.  All of the other Sixth Man of Year recipients were instant offense, defense or a little of both. From a scoring perspective, the other 6th Man recipients blew it up offensively their senior year with the exception of two players --GAC's Chris TeBrake & UST's Al McCoy.  Although TeBrake & McCoy play different positions, I'd like to think they were/are both trigger-point men for their respective teams.  TeBrake from the PG spot, McCoy from the post position.

Scoring wise, TeBrake averaged 5.1 ppg as a soph, 8.2 as as a senior.  McCoy averaged 6.9ppg as a junior & is currently averaging 8.2ppg during conference play.

Pretty doggone close if you ask me. If TeBrake can make it averaging 8.1 ppg, McCoy sure can.  ;)

Let's see, if you are not offense, defense or a little of both what are you, cheerleading?
Well hell...

That PG also had more rebounds, more assists, more steals and more blocks than the UST center. In addition to more points, of course.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Mose, Concerning facilities, I think ST. Mary's is hands down the worst. Stands too far from the floor. Poor lighting. I hated to go to games there. Even if was closer I would avoid contests there.

Although it is old, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Hutten Arena at Hamline for "atmosphere". For a spectator, the Cage at MAC was also fun when it was around. The new gym at MAC is great, but "atmosphere" will be lacking until the program improves.

Not so fast there my gimpy footed friend. Going into the final regular season game of the year McCoy is averaging 8.2 ppg in conference play which is exactly what Chris TeBrake averaged during conference play.

One other item to point out is that TeBrake also averaged 27 minutes per game compared to McCoy's 20 minutes per game.  The 6 minute difference is huge especially when you consider the slight statistical differences between the two players. I'll have to see if our colleague Snow can do a quick projection model & see what kind of numbers McCoy would put up if he played 27 minutes a game.  :-*

I also agree with Pops, I like Hutton arena & I also like Bethel's Robertson Center.

Oh, so we're going to use projections now? Then shouldn't GAC's Bobby Johnson also be considered? He's putting up 6.8 and 4.4 in about five less minutes than McCoy. Based on that, he's...oh...about three times the player TeBrake was and twice as good as McCoy, right? ::)

Both Robinson and McCoy are obviously good players. In a decidedly down year around the league, it's certainly possible that UST will get three on the all-conference team despite the lack of individual stats — but I suspect there's no chance of four. I've laid out my case for Robinson, but it's clearly a personal preference. If people want to include a center averaging 3.3 rebounds a game, I will point and laugh...but I clearly can't change the minds of the masses.

Gus Young is one of my favorites...saw some great games there when Wonka was in school and maybe right after. It does stand a little far away from the stands. Still, a very nice facility. SJU is very nice as well...but almost too big with the type of crowds I've ben accustomed too.

I also like Bethel's minus the backrests. Seriously, do we need those? UST is always a fun place to watch a game, but I always wished there could be more seating on the bench sides. Mose and his crew always get the good seats. Then again the media bird eyes view isn't bad either.

Still, gotta love the birthplace of intercollegiate basketball. Yeah, it is never full and the parking is terrible, but has some sweet history and "feel."

Gustavus will always hold a special place in my heart, obviously. But the addition of cheerleaders has been annoying. I believe it started in my junior year and the squad has slowly gotten larger. The front rows on the student side have lost some luster because it's often hard to see these days.

The old Mac facilities were brutal — anyone remember that tiny training room? — but the gym was fun, especially as a fan. There's a very fine line between safety and being close enough to the action to feel involved. Speaking of fine lines...after one game there, we found three people showering in our team showers. It wasn't awkward at all...

The SMU training room was nice, but the gym atmosphere was brutal. We also had a couple hundo in cash stolen from our wallets in the 2001-02 season, which was awesome. Anyone know if that ratty old couch is still in there?

I've also got a piece up about the Ole women, for those interested...

I can also attest to showering with Mac students in speedos after the game; I guess it wasn't all that surprising after all the things I had heard about Mac....As a player, Bethel was the best place to play, the floor made it feel like the rims were at 9'10" or so.  As a fan, I'd love to see Ham or Mac with a full house one of these years, though I don't know if they can get any louder than 1700 tommie fans were when they were on the comeback trail against bethel.

Well, my ex used to find bums taking showers in the swimming locker rooms at Hamline. Now that is creepy and well, gross.

The MIAC office sent out a new interp on the tiebreaker this morning. The Carleton ramifications and other seeding scenarios are broken down on our site. http://tinyurl.com/buhx4u

according to the league site, Car can be either the 2-3-4or 5 seed. Its simple...win, baby

what's different now vs 2005-06 when the descending order of losses was interpreted the same way? THAT cost Car the top seed

This reinforces every stereotype that we Chicagoans have about the Twin Cities: Up there, even the bums are squeaky-clean. ;) :D
