Just repeating what WW announcers said!

I see the reporters aren't throwing the bone:

A reporter asks to Gags in the post game conference, (something to the effect of) Have you ever seen a (either "QB" or "team")  of yours scrambling(running) around so much, looking like a chicken with its head cut off?

Bulk,
Yeah, a Big L.  But since I was one of the first to post my congrats, pile on if you like.

I said weeks ago, I thought WW could be one of the WIAC's best reps in a long time. They proved it today. I'd love to see next week's game, no matter who wins out West.

Mr. Ypsi

I took WW in the pickems, but never imagined such a one-sided game - 7 lost fumbles can do that!

Haven't seen a write-up yet - anyone have any comment on how many were fumbles, and how many were actually take-aways?

D O.C.

Prediction...if LINFIELD can hold on in their game this board will not see a (serious) post about 60-10 next week.

See Brett throw.   Throw Brett.   See Brett run!!!   Run Brett!   See Casey run.   See Brandon run.   See Tyler run.   See Jared run.   See Brad run.   Run Casey!   Brandon!   Tyler!   Run Jared!   Run Brad!   Run!

Nope...Not going to pile on...

Just getting out from under the pile the SJU fans had on me.
I did see SJU when they played UWEC earlier this year, and said in my post-game posts they did dominate the Blugolds on the field the whole game. But they didn't quite close out the game, close the sale, so to speak, and let UWEC stay in it...

When I saw the impressive Warhawks dominate the Blugolds in every facet, and mentioned that that team would be able to beat the Johnnies, the SJU fans piled on me....My karma took a hit, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't from WIAC followers. So, I just laid low thereafter on the trash talking until today, when I let the Warhawks speak for themselves...

Nothing personal. Just sticking up for a conference that, like you say, is being represented this year by a team that has been one of the best to represent this conference in a long time... And I go back a long ways watching this conference, and D3, long before most of the posters on here were in diapers...

Good to hear, you being a long-timer D3 fan. Referring to my previous posts, I mock "Pro" football because it has no heart or soul. I mock Packer and Viking fans alike because they cheer for dolts wearing the costumes that don't represent their states (Believe it or not Wisconsiners, Brett Favre isn't from Wisconsin  :o ). On down the line of collegiate football fewer and fewer boys are home-towners or home-staters, and even then most are poisoned by scholarships and come from out-of-state.

D3 football is a tribute to the heart and soul of the game of football. I learned that at SJU from John himself. At SJU we aren't always the faster, stronger, or smarter players. We are disipline and develop into good players and great teams. Thats our tradition.

WW proved today they have the heart SJU left in MN. Thanks WW for representing football for what it should be, and beating out another team with heart. Thanks for being a bunch of players from Wisconsin and embracing the true MN/WI rivarly.

D3 football; it isn't perfect, but it's the best state-represented football any of us has. Cherish it! I know I do...

P.S. Keep making Lienie's and we promise to keep them in business. Best damn non-shotgunning beer out there...

I guess I was a little off when I said 35-17; your Johnnies couldn't quit but up that extra 10 pts ;D.  The defense that was described as so fast and so good looked like a so-so defense for most of the game.  I would say that the best team showed up today, and the turnovers were caused not given for the most part.  I was hoping for a lot better game then this, but none the less I am excited with my Boys victory. Thanks for the game St. Johns and have a safe trip back. :P

95Johnnie:

With the exception of 2003, when I won nearly $300 bucks on a fantasy football team (shhh, don't tell Uncle Sam), I don't get too excited about pro football much.

I am a Packer fan, but was too young to enjoy the first two Super Bowl wins. As a youngster in the mid-70s, I took Packer losses personally, and those were the years when they weren't too good. Fortunately, I'm not the stereotypical big, slow WIAC football player, as we are often characterized outside of this conference, and I was limber enough to climb over the fence at Memorial Field and sneak into UW-La Crosse games (shh on that one, too...) to enjoy real football.

Having also lived in Green Bay, I know what it is like there during the season and on game day. I'm not sure NFL fans across the country really understand what the Packers mean to that community...

But having said all that, I love D3 football better than any other level of football there is... These kids aren't going to the NFL, where nowadays the players celebrate and gyrate for every first down. D3ers play because they love the sport. And yes, it is the heart and soul of football. I'll take the UWEC-SJU and UWEC-UWL games I watched this season and stack them up with any pro game, including the Super Bowl, any day... I appreciate the efforts of those who play D3, be it the WIAC, MIAC, or any team...

Stating the obvious here, so far Whitewater is representing the WIAC quite well.

Congrats to the Warhawks on a big win against the Johnnies.  You guys have a great team.  Now go get the Wildcats next week.  Will be cheering for you.

WIACPOWER

Last Sunday I posted that the "WIAC was one of the strongest conferences if not the strongest in D-3.  The St. John's fans thought I was nuts....I wonder how good they think the WIAC is after todays THUMPPING?

warhawkexpress28

I dont know if its just me or not but from what i saw today WW would  beat the Johnnies 9 out of 10 times(this year).  Now we get to see how good we really are and see if the Cats can stay within 14 pts.
If you wanna be good practice till you get it right, if you wanna be great practice till you cant get it wrong..

Congratulations Warhawks, sounds like you took it to a very good team today. Now you get to play another one of the WIAC's favorite teams - Linfield.  :)

I know you guys like to keep things focused on football so I was wondering what makes this year's team so much better than last year's. I saw your squad play about 3 quarters last season against Lakeland in a night game (I know, hard to gauge much against an opponent you are considerably better than) after Linfield played UW-Stevens Point. You went from 7-3 last season to 12-0 this year, and have run the table in the WIAC plus a decisive win over the Johnnies. What happened within one year? No big changes with Linfield, we're pretty much the same as last season. But not you guys. You went from not making the playoffs to being ranked #2 in the country. Why?
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Congrats to the Warhawks!  I have to admit that I was surprised - I didn't know who would win but I thought it would be a close game.

A few thoughts:

-The UWW defense is good but SJU was flat-out brutal today.  I think maybe 2 of the fumbles were caused by good defensive plays and the rest were just mental breakdowns by the Johnnies.

-Justin Beaver is an ok back but I think his o-line deserves most of the credit for his success.  It seems that the SJU defense handled him pretty easily when he tried to run outside.  I really didn't see any times where he 'made something out of nothing.'  We'll see if the UWW o-line can wear down the Linfield defense next week.

-SJU could move the ball passing down the middle (before they would inevitably fumble it away.)  Linfield's receivers will take advantage of this.

Non-football related thoughts:

-This probably makes me sound old and curmudgeonly, but why does UWW blast obnoxious music over the loudspeaker before the game, between quarters, halftime, and at every time out?  You have a band - let them play.

-UWW fans need to be a little more enthusiastic.  The Johnny fans, although outnumbered, were clearly louder and more into the game.

Just some opinions from a neutral observer.  It should be a good game next week!

Congratulations to the Hawks today.  The J's definately didn't come to play and you capitalized on nearly every mistake we made.   Would you win 9 out of 10 as somebody said earlier, I don't think so but it's only a one game series so it really doesn't matter.  Best of luck next week against Linfield.

Scariest bit of information I heard today, UWW returns 36 out of 44 on their 2 deep depth charts.
