 ;D  ;)

A fine weekend for us certainly. I'm not sure how to act when the Bears win a game.

Where are you seeing those names?

That's what the UMHB broadcast/radio folks called them.

I had to look up the roster during the game as I thought maybe I'd been saying Stanton's name wrong. In the second half I think I heard the color guy correctly say Stanton, but play by play guy couldn't get it right.
Aside from that, I thought the camera work was really good.

They both mispronounced the names the entire first half; the color guy read the stats at the half correctly, then they both again mispronounced them the rest of the game. You could hear the stadium PA with the correct pronunciation but these two guys just couldn't get them right. Otherwise, they called a good game for having not much to be happy about!

After NC play the WIAC has 4 teams in the top 11. Now they start beating each other up. It's anyone's call as to who survives.

Blugolds start conference play against Stout for Homecoming in the "War of I94". Will finally see if their first 3-0 start since 2007 is legit or just fools gold from an easy NC schedule.

A few notes:

Blugolds have not won 4 games in a season since 2018 when they went 4-6.

Last conference win not against UWSP, 2019 against River Falls,  which was also Homecoming for the Blugolds.

Currently in the midst of a 9 game losing streak to UW Stout.

Good luck to everyone else today.

My take: It's probably somewhere in between.

Whitewater controls first half and takes 17-0 lead into halftime. All La Crosse in the second half, and game heads to OT tied 17-17. After exchanging FG's in thr first OT, the Eagles recover a strip-sack fumble on 3rd down, and then kick a field goal to win 23-20 in 2OT.

UWO marches 66 yards in exactly one minute, and scores with 0:14 remaining to defeat River Falls 21-17.

Platteville and Stout cruise to a pair of easy victories over Stevens Pointvand Eau Claire respectively.

Whitewater knee(ing) the clock out with :52 seconds in the 4th, is absolutely strange strategy, considering they also had 2 timeouts remaining. Can anyone say no confidence in your offense? Playing for overtime. Unbelievable!

Gutless and pathetic. The UWW I know doesn't kneel with two TO and 50 seconds on the clock to be content with OT.

Deserved to lose.

This kid our best option at QB?

I can see why we were picked to finish in the middle of the WIAC. This is who we are now.

RF out statisticized Oshkosh in every category except turnovers. Falcons had 2 ints and a fumble. Titans had zero.

MESSAGE TO RECRUITS:  IN DOUBT? ENROLL AT STOUT. DON'T CARE? GO TO EAU CLAIRE. AT A LOSS? TRY LACROSSE. FEELIN' OUTTA JOINT? YOUR PLACE IS POINT. DON'T LIKE THE REST? DO WHAT'S BEST!

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

palum

Platteville wins their Homecoming game against SP. Platteville controlled both sides of the ball. Good passing game and aggressive defense. Points biggest plays were on penalties on Platteville's defense. Platteville plays River Falls, LaCrosse, Whitewater and Oshkosh in the next 4 weeks. What a fun Conference.

Why does Whitewater always have poor play from the quarterback position?
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

'95 Blugold

It was more or less the same old same for the Blugolds at Carson Park today. Blugolds got the ball first, but turnover and a couple series for each team later and it was 14-0 before you knew it and felt like "here we go again." Blugolds actually played pretty decent the rest of the half aided by multiple face mask penalties by Stout to pull within 14-10 before heading into half down 21-10.

2nd half was all Stout with a couple long TD passes and a stifling defense. Blugold observations:

Point will probably once again be our only winnable WIAC game as this defense will be lucky to keep any of the other teams under 40.

Poor positioning, tackling and maybe scheming had the Blugolds just not being able to get off the field on defense.

Offense has zero run game and despite the passing game being ok, it just isn't consistent enough to maintain long drives enough to put up points on a consistent basis.

I have to say, I am kind of surprised the UW schools haven't taken a shot at the D3 all-time attendance record. I think there's just such a bigger buzz around WIAC football, and obviously, with bigger student bodies — and, as it follows, bigger alumni bases — you've simply got a bigger audience. If Cortaca can draw 45,161, I feel like a WIAC battle could clear 50,000 easily, maybe push up to 60,000.
