Quote from: Bofadeeznuts on Yesterday at 07:13:39 PMMaybe the NCC/Wheaton conference is a better conference. Maybe those teams that NCC & Wheaton beat up during the season would have some success in the WIAC. Maybe?
Like the 3rd Place CCIW team WashU?

They just so happened to lose to the 5th Place WIAC team in the Isthmus Bowl...

I love Culver's. Been there only a couple times though.

Fun fact. Graduated at UWO. Believe his first job was managing a McDonald's. Think it was in that Sun Prairie area. Or his first Culver's was in that Sun Prairie area. Something like that. Probably why that game is held there. Donates $ to UWO. Built a hall and named it after him. Guessing that's why he sponsors that crap game.

But man, those Butterburgers are great. Guess that's what happens when you soak your burgers in butter. The PERFECT ingredient for people in WI.

Fat.

Quote from: Bofadeeznuts on Yesterday at 07:13:39 PMNo doubt WIAC is most competitive league top to bottom.

They're not competitive top to bottom. The bottom teams do not win WIAC games. But they win EVERY OTHER GAME.

Quote from: Bofadeeznuts on Yesterday at 07:13:39 PMBut that doesn't mean best conference. Not to me.

That's OK. We measure a conference by all its teams, not just the top couple.

Possibly a good omen for River Falls.

In 2005, the Johnnies traveled to a powerful but still somewhat of an upstart Wisconsin program: Whitewater. St. John's took a 7-0 lead, capitalizing on an early Whitewater turnover. I remember thinking, ah, here we go, Johnnies have been here so many times before, it's going to be more of the same. Final: Whitewater 34, SJU 7.

In 2025, the Johnnies traveled to a powerful but still somewhat of an upstart Wisconsin program: River Falls. St. John's took a 7-0 lead, capitalizing on an early River Falls turnover. I guess what I'm saying is, River Falls fans: Get ready to win six national titles in the next decade.

We need to see what the post-blaha era brings. But I said to my brother yesterday, UWRF feels a little like 2003 SJU. A very good team, with a transcendent player, and a feeling of almost inevitability. That Mount team was also regarded like this NCC team. Supposedly the best ever and unbeatable.

D3 was a little tighter at the top then. We almost knocked SJU off for 409, but Kirchoff getting carted off after the go ahead TD left us shorthanded in the final drive. Basically SJU had close calls that year, but Blake Elliot kept doing Blake Elliot things. This UWRF D with a healthy Blaha will be a really tough out. I think Wheaton is their biggest obstacle left before the Stagg.

Thanks! But that may be a bit ambitious.

Quote from: emma17 on Yesterday at 06:18:13 PMI think it was a good showing by the WIAC today. Turnovers hurt UWP and UWL but that often separates the best from the very good.

UWRF played well- Blaha took a pounding. I saw him limping, I hope he's good to go next Saturday. Congratulations to the Falcons.

Blaha ok. Thanks, Emma.

Quote from: cubs on Yesterday at 02:03:42 PMNot to be outdone, Platteville making some mistakes of their own. After jumping out to a quick 10-0 lead, though one could argue it could be more after settling for a FG despite having 1st and Goal from the one yard line. That defensive stop seemed to shift the momentum, as Bethel went down and scored to make it a 10-7 game. The Pioneers then put a drive together but throw an INT at the two yard line on 2nd Down. Platteville seems to answer with an INT of their own but a roughing the passer penalty wipes it out and Bethel scores after the second chance to take a 14-10 lead.
Platteville in position to score before the half with another 1st and Goal inside the Bethel 10 yard line and promptly turns it over on a sack/fumble with under 20 remaining.

Thanks for the recap. I was at the Wisconsin-Marquette game so I could only check the scores now and then. Congratulations to River Falls on your big win today. They will be hosting Wheaton which has been somewhat of a surprise this playoff season.

Thanks, Palum.

Yeah, I still remember the 409 game where a Bethel defender stepped in front of Elliot and got both hands on the pass but Elliot reached around from the back and got 1 hand on the ball and they called it a simultaneous catch. Happened right in front of the SJU bench so pretty sure that influenced that call. If I remember correctly, it was late in the game and would have pretty much sealed a win for Bethel.

That's not how I remember it.   ;)

Honestly, I don't remember it at all.  Need to fire up the DVD machine and give it a rewatch.
