Alma more of Oshkosh's speed. 17-7 still 10 minutes to go the 2nd quarter.

Quote from: AndrewB on September 11, 2026, 05:43:59 PMWill be interesting to see the attendance at the UW-La Crosse game tomorrow.  I'm always surprised at how low the attendance is compared to Whitewater.  5 straight years of making the playoffs.  Still in the top 15 and play a ranked opponent.  Will they even get 5,000 fans on what looks to be a beautiful September day?

Well, LaCrosse is a nice town with some fun stuff to do, but Whitewater seems kinda dull. And even though the football is usually good, is there much more to do in W-W then watch football and drink? 🤗

A few good bars and restaurants, watching a historic football program, and that about wraps it up. Yeah, La Crosse is about 3x the size of whitewater. Them and 0shk0sh are the 2 biggest WIAC cities on the conference.

RF over Coe 38-6. D better than I expected. No touchdowns allowed. McDevitt may (probably) got injured in 2nd Q.His injury was not noticed by announcers or by me except that he got up slowly after being tackled, played another play or two, and left. Did not return.Did not see him on field after he left game. Fitzgerald took over and did well.

Coe qb, most valuable player in ARC conference last year, was ineffective.

Boy, was I wrong about UW-L.
Maybe a change to the younger players is needed.  The offense is so stale.  No explosive plays at all.  After watching the UW-RF and Stout game, this team looked lifeless.  River Falls defense was running to meet Coe head on.  This defense waited for the quarterback on bootlegs to initiate contact and dictate the game.  This team does nothing at a top notch level.
Deep passing - NO
passing accuracy - NO
QB that keeps a defense on their heels - NO
Speed in the running game - NO
Pass rush - NO
Linebacker that attack the ball carrier - NO

WIAC can still be saved with River Falls vs Wartburg and Platteville vs Springfield.  Only 2 WIAC teams will make the playoffs

To be fair to UW-L, opening the season with a brand new head coach against two top 15 opponents is a rough way to go. But yea, I expected them to take a step back this year. Not really sure why you think the WIAC is only getting two teams in, or where you get any of the reasoning behind all of your predictions, but the WIAC still likely gets three teams in.

7-3 isn't making it into the playoffs this year. 8-2 coin flip and if you don't win the conference your competing against all the other teams going for pool C in D3 and the way they compare you to those teams is thru NPI. Some of those pool C teams will be 9-1. My understanding is there are less pool C bids this year because we have more AQ's.

NPI numbers have dependency on whether you win home or away. Away wins awarded more NPI points. Your also dependent on 60% of your opponents NPI. When you beat someone your NPI is dependent on their final record. Only D3 opponents count towards NPI.

NPI uses all your losses and at least 5 of your wins.
If you go   8-2 you probably lost to two good teams on your schedule. Where are your best 5 wins coming from to elevate you over the other 8-2 teams?

An 8-2 UWW has about a 60% chance of making it in as an at large. I get that's not cut and dry, but it's also not 0. I think it ends up depending on if they beat UWP or UWRF (or both) and how Carleton ends up. But it's too early to say that the WIAC is only guaranteed two spots.

Though you are right. There are fewer AQs this year. And LaCrosse going 0-2 was not on my WIAC playoff team bingo card...they need to run the table to get in now, and they're not going to.

Yep. The thing to watch is does UWL end up like 5-5 this year. You don't want 3 top teams in conference and then everyone else .500 or less because you might end up having to use some of those teams in your NPI calculation. WIAC had an advantage last year because they have more non conference games then other conferences and alot of those opponents ended up with good records.

One thing I like about WW is its location.  We're less than an hour from Milwaukee and Madison.  Chicago is about an hour and half. I wouldn't want to live in any of those cities but I do like to visit them.

There are more AQs. There are fewer at-larges.
