Hey Bleed & Co and Andrew, where are your picks.
You're messing with my Friday ritual.

bleedpurple

Still waiting for the other guys' posts to come in. But, just to keep you in rhythm, here is what I will be posting for my predictions:

UW-Oshkosh at UW-Eau Claire

Oshkosh has played both La Crosse and River Falls tough and lost in heartbreaking fashion. Led by the dynamic Demir Ashiru at QB, the Titans are clearly a dangerous team. They had four kicks blocked last week which essentially cost them the game. If they play a clean game, they will be a tough team for anyone to beat.  Eau Claire broke out to a 4-0 start before being humbled 38-0 by Platteville last week. The Blugolds have been very solid in stopping the run, but they yielded 312 yards passing and 4 touchdowns to Nathan Uselding and the Pioneers last week. This is a measuring stick game for the Blugolds, but Ashiru and the Titans are overdue to break into the WIAC win column.

UW-Oshkosh 38 UW- Eau Claire 21

UW-Stevens Point at UW- La Crosse
The Pointers have lost both conference games so far and have been held to single digits in the process. The Eagles' defense won't be easy for Stevens Point to crack. On the other hand, La Crosse will be coming in hungry for a win after a hard-fought loss to Whitewater last week. Kyle Haas, who has over 1400 yards and nine touchdowns figures to add to his totals in a significant way and La Crosse bounces back.

UW-La Crosse 56  UW-Stevens Point 7

UW-River Falls at UW-Platteville
I have no insight into the River Falls injury situation other than what I read online, but it has been posted that UW-RF could be without two of their starting offensive linemen, workhorse running back Trevor Asher, and their top three quarterbacks. If that is true, winning at Platteville will be a challenge of epic proportions.

Nathan Uselding continues to light things up, completing over 79% of his passes for 1254 yards and 17 touchdowns. River Falls has an excellent defense, but Demir Ashiru did throw for over 400 yards against them last week for Oshkosh. Uselding and Ashiru have very different styles, but if Falls doesn't button down their pass defense, they will be in trouble.

UW-Platteville 28 UW River Falls 17

UW-Whitewater at UW-Stout-Poly
The Warhawks hit the road for the second consecutive week as they travel to Menomonie to take on the 3-2 Blue Devils. Stout split their two WIAC games losing to Platteville 31-27 before taking to the road and bouncing Stevens Point 48-2. Stout is a streaky team, having jumped to a 27-0 lead over Augustana, only to see the Vikings close the gap to 37-34 with 5 minutes left in the game. They also fell behind Platteville 28-7 at halftime, before outscoring the Pioneers 20-3 in the second half to just fall short 31-27.

As usual in the WIAC, the Warhawks will have to play well to win. With the high level the Warhawk defense is playing at and the offense beginning to show flashes, Stout can't afford one of their lapses in this one and expect to secure the upset.

Week 7 predictions - Clarity weekend

UW Oshkosh vs UW Eau Claire

Bad schedule for Oshkosh in this game.  After traveling to River Falls, they go back on the road to Eau Claire.  If this game happened last weekend, I would have picked Eau Claire.  I don't know if Eau Claire gets over that lose to Platteville.

Oshkosh 31  Eau Claire 20

UW Stevens Point vs UW La Crosse

Just like I said Stout needed a get right game, now it's La Crosse to do the same.  Look for La Crosse to force the rushing attack.

La Crosse 42   Pointers 10

UW River Falls vs UW Platteville

If Platteville had a solid run game this game would be over at halftime.  Platteville has the better quarterback, receivers, line and running backs right now.
Defensively, River Falls just gave up over 400 passing yards at home.  Before that 2 explosive runs by Tommy N.  I don't see how Platteville doesn't score 30+ and how River Falls scores over 20.

UW Platteville 34   UW River Falls 17

UW Whitewater vs UW Stout Poly

It all about Chase.  If he doesn't commit a costly turnover, Stout wins.  Best receivers that Whitewater has gone against all year.  Strongest armed Quarterback Whitewater has seen all year.  Does he still have last week's magic?  Or will he go back to his questionable play, like that against Platteville?  This is easily the WIAC game of the week.

UW Stout Poly 24  UW Whitewater 21

Bleed--your RF injury problems are way over stated, esp.the top 3 qb's out. At practice today all 3  qb's were practicing, including McDevitt no.1.Coaches said that if he had a good week of practice, and I don't know whether that's true, he will start. I doubt that will happen, but he'll be there. Fitzgerald looked fine, and Daniels, the 3rd qb,I'm not sure of. He passed for or scored the winning td vs Oshkosh. His injury was to his left arm.
Asher MAY be out but his replacement is good.

Am not aware of any offensive linemen out, but our best d lineman injured his knee lifting weights last Monday. He probably is out.

I have a hard time believing Ashiru is not just as good, or better than, any other qb in the league. Yes, he passed for 400 or so yards vs RF but he's that good.

All that said, Pville will be very hard to beat Saturday.

WORLD'S OLDEST FALCON FAN.

MESSAGE TO RECRUITS:  IN DOUBT? ENROLL AT STOUT. DON'T CARE? GO TO EAU CLAIRE. AT A LOSS? TRY LACROSSE. FEELIN' OUTTA JOINT? YOUR PLACE IS POINT. DON'T LIKE THE REST? DO WHAT'S BEST!

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

The problem is Fitzgerald hasn't looked good.  Against Whitewater he had 3 interceptions, and it could have been more.  The O-line hasn't been solid, and the running game has struggled since the Wartburg game. Credit to the special teams, but I don't think you can count on 4 blocked kicks this weekend.  Uselding has completed over 75 percent of his passes this season.  Asher is still nursing his injury against Whitewater and Platteville run defense is one of the strengths of the defense.

Thanks for clearing that up. I tried to be very upfront by saying I had no insight into the injuries and was just going by what is online. Wasn't trying to overstate anything. Always glad to get accurate information. I will adjust my post for the website. I should private message you before the games to get accurate Falcon info! Can't have enough good sources.  :) IMO, if they are healthy, they have every opportunity to beat Platteville. Should be a great game.

All right- good stuff by all.
So UWRF v UWP is uncertain due to potential injuries to the Falcons. I've not seen UWP play this year but have watched UWRF 2-3 times. If UWP offense can play against upper tier WIAC as they have other teams- I think the Falcons are in trouble.

UWW's D has a great opportunity to show just how good they are vs. any style of offense.

Based on last year's game and the common opponent Alma at the beginning of the season, I had hope that Oshkosh could be one of those games that helps Eau Claire maybe get it's first non Pointer WIAC victory since 2019, but after seeing how the Titans have faired since I'm having my doubts. Hopefully the Blugold offense can hang onto the ball and maybe make a game of it if the defense can hold their own.

Eau Claire plays so much zone defense, that these good teams just pick them apart.  Oshkosh has been poor against the pass this year, I just don't think  Ayden can expose the defense.
If Eau Claire has trouble moving the ball in the air, they might have to look for a quarterback in the portal to push Ayden.  Coach Ockinga must have some quarterbacks he recruited while at Peru State that might be interested in going to Eau Claire.

'95 Blugold

As someone who has watched Ayden since his high school years, I have to admit, I've been a bit disappointed in his development at Eau Claire. I had pretty high hopes and expectations for him when he was named starting QB last season. Has accuracy issues and throws with really weird angles at times with his release. Definitely agree, that they may need someone to come in and provide competition. Though if their pass defense can't improve from what it's been in recent years it won't matter who the QB is.

palum

Platteville wins over River Falls 42-0. Platteville's defense held the Falcons to 21 yards of offense. Uselding completed 80% of his passes. Going in I thought Platteville had a chance to win but not like this.

'95 Blugold

WOW! About all I can say about the Blugold performance today in a 28-7 win over Oshkosh. Defense completely neutralized Titan QB Ashiru and their offense all game. Unfortunately the Defense couldn't keep the shutout intact as the Titans managed a TD on the last play of the game.

Haven't seen a game like this from Eau Claire since they upset St. Thomas in 2019. Apart from a couple Helder INTs there wasn't much for negatives in the game.
