desertcay1,
You sure are impressed with Linfields 45-7 win over Stevens Point, a 1-4 WIAC conference team.  Perhaps you don't know that UWW beat Steven's Point as well 44-12 and the last touchdown came late in the game with the starting D on the bench.  There must be a  stronger opponent that Linfield has beaten this year that would help you make a better case, isn't there?

I haven't seen SJU play, but I did see Whitewater play. The Warhawks are like a well-oiled machine, they just seem to be hitting on all cylinders and they've been doing it all season.

From all I've read about Whitewater they are a very good club this year and deserve their high national ranking.  Are they better than Linfield or SJU I have no idea and that is the purpose of the playoff structure.  If they are better than #1 and #3 then they clearly will go to the Stagg Bowl and probably would have a good chance to be crowned the next national champion.  I do believe, from what I've read that it would be a pretty decent game between the Cats and Whitewater.

As to comparing the Stevens Point scores or any other of Linfield scores it is really difficult to make any comparisons as Elliot has played very little in the second half of any ball game this season other than the Whitworth game.  He and the first team offense usually play for a couple of series at the start of the second half and then ride the bench for the balance of the game as the second and third stringers finish out the game and get significant playing time.  So how good are the Cats, I don't know and I don't think anyone truly knows because they have yet to play a full game.

There seems to be quite a bit of discussion about game attendance and frankly I don't know where the Catdome even fits into the equation  in WIAC but there are only three home games at the Catdome this season and they have all been played.  Here are the reported attendance numbers for each home game:  Stevens Point - 4,500, Pacific Lutheran -  4,500, Puget Sound - 5,000 (Standing Room Only).

Desertcat,

Hopefully you aren't still in school out there in Oregon.  Its obvious you don't have a heck of a lot of respect for us out here in farm country.  However, us hick farmers can spell, particularly when it is just four letters.  Its not WICA... its WIAC. Go to your remedial spelling class tomorrow and practice. WIAC, WIAC, WIAC.  When you can get the spelling right, then come back and flash some of your witty Linfield/Northwest Conference banter back our way.

I may be wrong about desertcat's intentions and his spelling, but I laughed at what I saw as sarcasm. WICCA (a little playing with the letters of the conference) is an earth based religion. SP's long grass / pasture field. You also mention farm country. It fit as funny. :D Unfortunately sarcasm usually doesn't come across in written word very well. ::)

Speaking of over-analyzing and looking WAY too far in to something...

I have seen SJU and WW my opinion SJU plays in a weak conference and WW plays in a very physical conference.  My opinion is WW is a heck of a lot better than SJU and WW would be my pick hands down if those two schools met in the playoffs.  I haven't seen Linfield at all but from all the posts on the WIAC message board they seem like they are good enough to play in the Rose Bowl this year.

Wildcat'64

Not sure about getting to the Rose Bowl this year but the Stagg Bowl would be just fine after playing either the Whitewater or SJU in the West Region Finals or the Semifinals if Whitewater gets moved to the North Region.

So the MIAC is weak?  How about the WIAC's 3-7 playoff record?  Sure sure you beat yourselves up during the season so maybe we should start crowning the winner of the WIAC the D3 champ?

TRU

I agree that the WIAC is a very physical conference. Also in a WW SJU match up WW would be odds on choice on paper. However don't forget SJU is 18-6 against WIAC teams and has a nasty habit of being much better at the end of the year than at the beginning. Ask Linfield who is 0-3 vs SJU.

My opinion is that a SJU WW game would be very close. The winner would play Linfield-- While I would pull for either SJU or WW against Linfield-
I doubt either team would take them. Too much fire power this year- also I think Linfied has a very good D this year. But on a wet, cold, windy  day Linfield can be had- WIAC teams do better in these conditions.

blugold26

My point is the WIAC is a lot stronger top to bottom than the MIAC and I think WW would just be more prepared in a close physical game even though they really haven't had a close game except LAX.

Take a look at UWW's schedule and the final scores.  How many full games do you think that Justin Jacobs and the starting players have finished?  I believe he only played one to the buzzer and that was against LAX because UWW got too conservative when they were up 23-9 in the second half and allowed them to come back.  He has and is on the verge of breaking all kinds of QB records that have been standing for decades and has sat the bench for almost the entire  second half during some games.  Actually the team  as a whole have broken all kinds of records so far while the starters have taken a seat during garbage time!
Desertcat1
Still no answer about a harder opponant this year?  You may continue to brag all you want about your win against U-STP but realize that it carries less weight when used against UWW.  Been there, done that!
I actually felt bad about going after Linfield on the board.  They are the defending National Champs and deserve the respect that brings.  But then I realized this morning after reading desertcat1's posting attacking the great people of Wisonsin ( I am from another state) that it is not the team that I disagree with.  It is just a few fans looking for a "kitty fight."  Hats off to the team and good luck with the rest of the season.  And GO HAWKS! ;)
