Sounds as if Cornell might be as healthy as they have been all season besides the first game which is good for them as they will need to play mistake free football and not turn the ball over. I am making no predictions basically b/c the first two weeks I didn't and we won then I started making predictions and we lost so I'll be superstitious and make no prediction.  ;D Good Luck Rams!

I suppose if Indiana can beat Iowa, anything can happen....um, yeah, good luck Rams. (You're going to need it!) Go Dutch!!

Better get my picks in before heading off to Knights Field here in Mason City for a big high school game between Newman Catholic and Nashua-Plainfield.

BV @ Loras:  I'd love to tell all the Beaver fans that their guys are going to walk into the Rock Bowl and dominate their old coach, but I just don't see it happening.  Loras has gotten back into the mix in the IIAC this year, somewhere BV hasn't been in a while.  Loras 27, BV 13

Central @ Cornell:  Looks like the Dutch got the cobwebs out offensively in that win over Dubuque last week.  I don't see the Cornell defense slowing them down at all here.  Central 30, Cornell 12

Luther @ Simpson:  I said it last week and I'll say it again, Luther is much better than their record indicates.  I'm not sure I buy most of the talk around here about Niemann being on the way out at Simpson, but the Storm will go through some growing pains until they get the right personnel in place for this new offense.  Luther 24, Simpson 13

Wartburg @ Coe:  What happened to that vaunted Coe offense last week?  If you have the ball for 38 minutes, I'd think you could come away with more than 12 points, especially with some of the weapons the Kohawks have.  Coe better right the ship offensively in a hurry, because that Wartburg defense is playing very well right now.  Knights could probably afford to open it up a little more on the offense, but the D will carry them Saturday.  Wartburg 20, Coe 16

Picks for the week:

I will give one home team a victory-Loras.

Luther will be up by 21 in the final minute of the game, but will have a punt blocked for a TD & give up back to back onside kicks leading to 2 quick scores. They will finally pull one out by stopping Simpson at the inch line on a 2 pt conversion with no time on the clock.

Hopefully the Wart D will continue to play well & the offense breaks out. If so, the Knights will come out with a very convincing win.

wartknight,

I assume that since Central is a road team you want them.  You didn't say in your post.

My picks:

Central at Cornell-  I'm going to pick Central here in hopes that the Rams get pissed at me and prove me wrong.  If Cornell can put 4 quarters of solid football together I think they have a good chance at this game, however its been awhile since they've done that.  Central by 10

BV at Loras- The Duhawks get the edge by being at the Rock Bowl, otherwise I'd say these teams are pretty even.  Loras by 6

Luther at Simpson- I too agree that Luther is much better than their record indicates.  They show it tomorrow.  Luther by 7

Wartburg at Coe-  Man I don't know, I never thought I would want to be at Coe so badly.  I have a connection at the game that will be sending me updates throughout the game, b/c I think it will be that good.  I'm going to have to go with Coe.  I think all questions about Coe's offense lately will be answered and they will control the clock.  Coe by 7

Good luck to everyone this weekend

Anyone know if Coe has a game tomorrow?
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

The Show

lorbec - JSPC tops Kuemper tonight 34-7. Kuemper's only score came on a halfback pass when they were at midfield.  I'd have to double check the film, but I don't believe Kuemper ever had the ball inside the red zone.

Hopefully the Beavers have the same luck tomorrow...

I see Walston's squad rolled tonight as well, congrats!

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Looks like it could be a mud bowl in CR and Cornell today.  This could change some game plans.  Will teams be able to move the ball in the mud?

I had all my picks in the one sentence. taking Loras as the one home team to win. I just expanded on a couple of games. Sorry for the confusion.

Had planned on the trip to CR today, but the family backed out on me because of the weather or made other plans. Nursing a bad cold myself, so common sense says stay home, but my Knight blood says go. Will play it by ear the next hr or so.

Picks for the weekend:

Central hammers Cornell by 21
Luther finds a way to win for a change by 6
Loras wins a close one to a much improved BV team only because they are at home by 3
Coe wins a low scoring slugfest with the Knights similar to the Wartburg-Central game. Final score 16-14.

If you can't make it to the Coe-Wartburg game, be sure to tune in to the radio broadcast at KMRY (1450-AM) or over the internets at www.coe.edu/athletics/. The game is listed under recent results and you can either click on "listen live" to hear the radio broadcast or "live stats" for up-to-the-minute statistics. I don't know about Wartburg, but Coe has had good weather all year. It'll be interesting to see how these teams play in the rain, cold and mud. Then again, Coe practices in the mud, so they should have an edge.

Looks as if Suckow will play. I hope Wartburg planned accordingly.
