I agree that when Loras keeps it simple the uni's are sharp. I'm not a big fan of the font they used for the numbers this year.  I also don't like that UNI is purple and gold as well as the Vikings, that makes it less unique.  The black/orange is forever Halloween or deer hunting season, but the Warty faithful definitely stand out when they're around.  So I'll give them my vote because of that.

I agree that we need a school with a green scheme.

Wow, lots of topics on the board this week, you can tell there's not a lot of playoff mystery in the IIAC, appears the winner of DBQ and Coe will get the AQ and thats all there'll be.

First of all color combination, even though I have a soft spot for the purple and gold, I really like the simple navy and white of Penn State.  So the closest I can come in the conference to that is the blue and white scheme, the right blue and that's pretty sharp.

I disagree Michigan helmets were better without the numbers.  If someone wants to go green, I think the dark green and old gold the MSU beat Wisky with was awesome!

For what it's worth, MSU wore those Nike Pro Combat dark green, black and old gold uniforms against Michigan. They were back to their primary green and white uni's the next week vs Wisconsin.

"HALFWAY TO MVP -- Aaron Rodgers, Calvin Johnson, Charles Woodson, Peyton Manning's neck, and my new all-time favorite back and D-III Coe College alum Fred Jackson, who has given new hope to every 5-foot-8, 185-pound second-stringer in high school."

All the teams that I have been involved with have either been black/orange or black/red/white so I definetly have a Johnny Cash wardrobe. I do think there is something menacing about coming out in a primarily black uniform.

Personally. I do like a primary color coupled with white. Something about a sunny autumn afternoon and dazzling white along with another bright color looks good to my eye.

Best color combinations for a football uniform in the IIAC?
Current style need not be considered.  Colors only are the criteria.
You can't pick your team's combination.

(Current)
Navy/Gold
Red/Gold
Purple/Gold
Red/White
Blue/White
Purple/White
Orange/Black

(Throw backs since the 1950s, not mentioned above)
Green/White
Navy/White
Baby Blue/White

I believe I am correct in saying that Parsons College was decked out in Green/White.  That would be my choice.
In general I do not like red/orange, red/yellow, or red/gold, but red/white or red/black looks solid.

I know this is about the color scheme, but the style is almost always a bigger thing.  Some years Upper Iowa had solid uniforms, many years they looked like clowns.

I like the current Central uniforms the most of any team outside of Decorah.  The numbers on the side of the helmet for the Norse are great, but I did like it better when the Norse had the shoulder striped Colts looks with the jerseys.  Both the Norse and Dutch have sharp helmets with the white helmet, but I like the Norse having the numbers rather than a logo and I also like the single stripe rather than a Dutch double stripe.

I used to like the Cornell purple helmets with the white ram horns on each side.

Loras can put out a good looking uniform when they have the gold helmet, gold pants, and basic purple jersey.

My favorite SEC helmet is Alabama as it hasn't changed at all.

The Michigan helmets are great, and they made them better by adding the small numbers on the sides.

I was also a fan of the Purple helmets with the white ram horns. However I do like the new look they had the past two years. I do think they could go back to a newer version of the purple helmets with ram horns and make it look pretty solid with the new uniforms they have.

I am with ya on the Michigan helmets even though I am not a fan of Michigan at all.

Ditto!  I hope Iowa kicks them around this weekend, but both teams have good uniforms.

Well, this weekend has definitely got me excited for some football.  Now that our High School season is over out here, I have a chance to actually follow college ball and the high school playoffs.

Obviously, I'm pulling for Cornell to put 2 in a row together.  The Hawkeyes need to right the ship, but looking for a big upset.  Maquoketa has a chance to make the semi-finals for the first time in school history.

I'll only mention a non-football sport once (no, not soccer), but good luck to the Cornell Volleyball team on their run at a Championship and a National Tournament appearance.  Things could get pretty crazy in Mt. Vernon Saturday night if both teams pull of the W.  Plus I hear AshPark is making an appearance  ;D

Cedar Rapids Gazette story on the Coe/Dubuque game...http://thegazette.com/2011/11/04/coe-dubuque-set-to-decide-iowa-conference-championship/

If you are a registered user of that newspaper doolittledog, maybe you could write them a comment and inform them that MZ transferred from UW-River Falls, not UWW as it says...just to be accurate. He did graduate from Whitewater H.S., however.  ;)  I don't usually read this rag and I don't care to register.
