Sure would be nice to send two IIAC teams. Who needs to lose in order for Wartburg to have a chance?

Here are the West rankings...

WEST
1 UW-Whitewater 7-0 9-0
2 St. Thomas 10-0 10-0
3 Linfield 7-0 8-0
4 Cal Lutheran 7-1 7-1
5 Dubuque 8-1 9-1
6 Monmouth (Ill.) 9-1 9-1
7 Redlands 7-1 7-1
8 St. Scholastica 9-0 9-0
9 Illinois College 9-1 9-1
10 Wartburg 7-2 7-2

If...if...UW-Whitewater gets moved to another region maybe 1 team could lose and blow up their regional ranking and let Wartburg slip in...but it is very rare for a 2 loss team to get an at-large bid and I don't know how many of those teams ahead of Wartburg are already locked in by winning their conference.  What does help Wartburg is they won @ #5 Dubuque and @ #6 Monmouth.

UD hosting Monmouth is likely while there's almost a 0% chance of Bethel making the playoffs. That would be a good game to watch, UD and Monmouth slugging it out...

I WILL be at the playoff game no matter where it is!!! We have waited a LONG TIME for this and I cannot miss history in the making again. The Spartans have won the conference before and made it to the playoffs in the past, but have NEVER won a playoff game.

GO SPARTANS!!!

If UD has a home game, I am leaving my options open. I am still hoping for a wild final weekend where the Knights can slid in the back door. I know it is a long shot, but stranger things have happened. Before that can happen, they need to take care of business on the road Sat!

So looking at this it looks like Illinois college might be getting an at large bid?? Sorry not exactly sure how the whole region rankings work with who gets in and who doesn't. Obviously I know the conference champ gets the automatic berth, but not sure how the rest exactly works.

I may not have play-offs to look forward to, but after doing my scouting I'm feeling a little better about Central's chances against loathsome Simpson this Saturday.  Even though they're on a 4 game win streak, and it looks like they can pass which Central has had trouble defending, the Storm doesn't exactly light up the scoreboard.  They have averaged only 24 points per game so far this season.  Whatever happens, I 'm counting on Central out-scoring them.

And speaking of big game preparations, when they were getting dressed in the locker room after practice, the rest of the Simpson team noticed that one of the linemen put on the same tattered funky pair of gray underwear everyday.  Finally, one day after practice he put on a white pair.  One of his teammates said, "Hey, did you finally get some new underwear?"  And the lineman said, "Well, they're new to me."

U of Dubuque/Monmouth would be a shootout.  The scoreboard operator better start doing some finger stretching exercises, because this meeting could be in line to set a single game total score record for NCAA playoffs.  ::)

Should this match up occur and if my beloved Knights are not in the playoffs, I'll be putting on my royal blue TEAM hat and heading to the game.

Regional rankings are a fairly good indication on who the Pool C teams might be. With the emphasis on might. Where as the Top 25 is meaningless this time of year when considering which teams will get into the playoffs.

The playoff selection committee basically uses the same criteria to select it's teams in the playoffs compared to what's used to determine these regional rankings.

Of course the committee has the power to move teams out of a region to help balance out the power between regions. For instance, I'm guessing UWW will move to the North, and Mount Union will move to the East.

So, yes, it looks like Illinois College is a bubble team for a Pool C bid right now. They better pray that Lewis & Clark doesn't upset Linfield Saturday to hurth its chances.

What is this I hear about the road over Red Rock Dam being closed?  I hope the conference commissioner is looking into it.  It sounds like some sort of Simpson sabotage to me.

These things don't improve with age so I might as well use it today.

A Central grad was passing by the Prairie Meadows casino when he was stopped by a shabby looking Simpson grad accompanied by a poorly clad woman and skinny child.  "Oh please sir," says the Simpson grad, "can you spare me a couple of dollars so that I can buy food for my starving family?"  The Central grad says, "how do I know you won't take whatever I give you into this casino and gamble it away?"  And the Simpson grad says, "Hey, I told ya its for food.  I already have my gambling money."

Luther to dedicate turbine Saturday

Luther College will formally dedicate its new wind turbine at halftime of the Luther football game on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The ceremony will begin at approximately 1 p.m. in Carlson Stadium on Luther's lower campus.

Paula Meyer of Edina, Minn., chair of the Luther College Board of Regents, will "flip the switch" to symbolically bring the electrical power generated by the turbine to campus.

President Richard Torgerson, James Martin-Schramm, Luther professor of religion and coordinator of the wind turbine project, and Bill Menner of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which provided funding for the wind turbine project, will also speak at the ceremony.

They should have dedicated the new wind turbine while the Dutch were visiting ;)

Good news about the Luther windmill.  Now Wartburg students can work on a plan to paint the blades ORANGE.
I assume the engineering guru at Luther figured you put the windmill on the top of the hill and only the dedication and switch flipping happens in the valley.

Don't really think there's a chance for Wartburg to get in with 2 loses.  The committee will look at all the one lose teams first and there are 13 of them left who haven't yet clinched an AQ.  5 AQs left to be determined so that leaves 8 1 lose teams before Wartburg gets on the board.  Sorry Orange fans, you can join the rest of us cheering on the Spartans in the playoffs.
