Central...BV.    BV takes this one.   ;D

Coe...UD. Coe foils UD defense plus UD fumbles.  ???

Luther... Loras.  All depends on health of Norse.  Close but Luther wins in last possession.  :-X

Wartburg.....Simpson.  Warts sweep.  :D

I'd agree with everything here except reverse the Central BV outcome, Dutch D a match for BV high powered O.  Central by 2 TDs

Dubuque beats Coe 29-27.

Down 14-7 in the 1st quarter, I broke out the lucky mower for the 1st time in years.  I see it still has it's mojo  ;D

If the weather is nice next weekend, my family might make the trip to Pella.

Yup, Wartburg ruined many weekends this year.  Congrats to them on the outright championship,  No disrespect to Loras, but no one else has done better than a 21 point lose to them, so thats a pretty safe pick.  They have the AQ wrapped up and hope they get a good run in the playoffs.  Congrats also to my Dutch who now have at least a tie for second secured.  They've made a nice run through the rest of the conference with todays win the narrowest margin of their conference wins.  to play the "if only" game, with a healthy Eisler vs Monmouth I'd predict a little noise from them in the playoff consideration, but won't be happening with two loses.

Should be a good one in Pella next week, gotta make a choice between attending that or the HS semis in the dome at 72 degrees.  In an ideal world I might do both!

wow, 4 posts on a FB Saturday,  really shows the lack of mystery in the
IIAC outcomes this year.  is it too early to talk about disappointments and surprises for the season?  Seemed like we started the year with a lot of hopes and dreams for the likes of Dubuque, Simpson and Luther.  The preseason poll looked like this:

Rank   School (1st place votes)   Points   2013 Record
1   Wartburg (7)                      56              9-3, 6-1 IIAC
T2   Coe                                      43              7-3, 4-3 IIAC
T2   Dubuque                              43              5-5, 4-3 IIAC
4   Central (1)                              37              6-4, 4-3 IIAC
5   Simpson                              34              7-3, 5-2 IIAC
6   Buena Vista                      33              4-6, 4-3 IIAC
7   Luther                              20              2-8, 1-6 IIAC
8   Loras                                      14              1-9, 0-7 IIAC

From that we get Simpson and Luther fighting to stay out of the bottom, both teams undefeated in non-con play, but that makes the Storm most disappointing in my book,  must have been some injury troubles there.  And I'll go with my Dutch as the most pleasantly surprising as long as they take care of business next Saturday!

And from the D3football preview guide they predicted...

Wartburg 7-0
Central 5-2
Dubuque 5-2
BVU 4-3
Coe 3-4
Simpson 3-4
Luther 1-6
Loras 0-7

With 1 week left we stand...

Wartburg 6-0
Central 5-1
BVU 4-2
Dubuque 3-3
Coe 3-3
Loras 2-4
Luther 1-5
Simpson 0-6

Not a bad prognostication...
If Wartburg can somehow manage to win at home against Loras they will get to 7-0
Loras will be a +2
If my Spartans can get a win in Pella Central will go their predicted 5-2
Dubuque would then be a -1 from predicted at 4-3
If Coe wins at home over BVU the Beavers will fall right in at 4-3
Coe would then be a +1
If BVU wins at Coe they would be a +1 at 5-2 and Coe would fall right in at 3-4
Luther @ Simpson could go either way.
A Luther win would get the Norse to 2-5, a loss gets them at their predicted 1-6
Simpson predicted at 3-4 needs a win just to get to 1-6 and a -2 from predicted.

I think most of us thought of Wartburg as the favorite, and thought 7-0 was likely.  I didn't see the Knights dominating every game like they did.  They really haven't been challenged this year.  I'll pick them as the most surprising, even though they were predicted to be right where they are.  It's the way they've done it for me.

I know Simpson has battled injuries this year, but after a 3-0 start, being winless in the conference with 1 week left in the season makes them the most disappointing in the conference this season in my mind.

If I could give you positive karma I would  ;D

Definitely not expecting a Spartan victory, just hopeful.  From a distance, Central looks like a team that has steadily progressed as the season wore on.  Dubuque seems to be a different team from week to week.  At their best, Dubuque is a good team that can beat anybody (except those darn knights).  I'd like to see a knock down drag out old fashioned punch them in the nose type game from both teams next weekend and see who comes out with a victory in the end.

Wartburg winning over Loras is the only game I feel confident of this weekend.  The other games I think will go like last week...single digit wins with Wartburg in a blowout.

If you make me choose...

Wartburg scores early and scores often.  Wins big over Loras
Central should be favored over Dubuque.  I'll take Dubuque with the victory...because I'm a Spartan fan
Buena Vista over Coe and Simpson over Luther...because if those 2 schools get victories, we will have 6 of the 8 senior classes leave with winning conference records over their time in school.
