Considering my poor performance last season,  maybe I shouldn't even ask, but ... Will there be an ARC/IIAC Pick'em this season.  I know the burden has fallen on Mrs. Doolittledog in the past ... dare she be asked to do it again?  ???

If there is interest, I am sure I can talk Mrs. Doolittledog into running the pick-ems again.

And Happy Anniversary DBQ1965!

Well I certainly think Mrs.Doolittle is a great person for taking care of our mutterings in the past.  She will forever by my favorite Spartan fan if she were to do it again.  Sorry Dolittle :o

I'm trying to make my pickems for opening day and, since I know nothing about this year's teams, I go to the "Teams" section of D3Football.  I see this year's schedule but the first prior year's result I see is 2017.  Am I missing something?  2018 was rough on Central fans but I don't want to remove it from the historical record.

Our fearless leader indicated elsewhere that it's a glitch with the PrestoSports software and he is working to get it resolved. Meanwhile, you can just switch the year in the address bar and get 2018 that way

Thanks.  That is what I like about the D3Football web site.  Such nice people post here.

I should say, it's also possible to get to the 2018 team pages by going to the standings and picking 2018 out of the menu.

Lies. Slander. Retract this statement about me immediately. I went to St Thomas and have a reputation to uphold around here, Mr Rex, if that is even your real name.

You make a good point.  I need to be more careful now that the season is approaching.  I could have accidentally said something nice about someone from loathsome Simpson.

I just assumed you were being sarcastic. You definitely need to be more careful.

Might I recommend that fellow fans listen to the ARC commissioner, Chuck Yrigoyen, who is interviewed in the first Around the Nation Podcast (# 238/Aug 30th), which you can access through the D3 football website.  As always, Yrigoyen is thoughtful and articulate and candid.  Probably most interesting is his report that the ARC is open to the possibility of expanding the footprint of the conference, and he specifically mentioned "north," although he said they've not talked to St. Thomas.  As for issues facing D3 sports, he highlighted enrollment and finances, which one would expect.

DBQ1965

Michael Joseph, former stand out DB for UD survived being cut out completely and is on the Chicago Bears practice squad for the second year.   I did some research and learned the base salary for a practice squad member is $7,600 per week.   I'm sure he would rather be suiting up on Sundays, but that is not bad $$$.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Enjoyed listening to the Around the Nation Podcast, especially the interview with Chuck Yrigoyen.  Over the next decade, the most important conversation might be enrollment and finances over conference affiliation.  Will be interesting times.

We were hoping Michael Joseph might make the game day roster for the Bears, but like DBQ1965 says, $7,600 per week over the 17 weeks they get paid is a nice consolation prize!

A reminder that with the season starting this Thursday with BVU @ Hamline, the pick-ems also start up over on the pick-ems page.  If you forget to get your pick-ems in before that Thursday game, don't worry, we will just count that game as a loss and count your Saturday picks.

I read the news release from Central about this year's football team.  I don't know their SID, but he does a great job.  There's no "woe is me" in Pella...  I'm accustomed to coaches downplaying expectations, but I think any Central fan reading this news release will be terribly disappointed if they don't win it all.  Needless to say, I hope there's disappointment.
This Central football fan was terribly disappointed when we didn't win it all last year.  Expectations are very high.

I can't carry a tune even if it's in a bucket, but for some reason "It's the most wonderful time of the year" keeps running through my mind.  Does that count as my exercise for the day?  :D

Just read the pre-game article on Central's game Saturday. Sorry to say there will not be video on Saturday for some reason. Maybe too early in the year for student workers to be trained? It also sounds like we have a fair number of preseason work-out injuries. Given that we won easily last year it is probably best not to push it for a non conference game.  Good luck Dutch.
