Jackson and Sherden are both worthy. I think, with exception to the Coe game, Dubuques record wouldn't be any different with out him. Same with the Norse, only the BV outcome probably would have changed. I just don't think you can say that about the Dutch with out Connell.

I dont think Dubuque would have won as many games without Jackson, I dont think the Central game would have gone to OT without Jackson as well...same for Connell. Jermar has more total yards and scoring per game while Connell is better in passing yards and pass efficiency. I think its a race between them, when it comes down to it I think Connell is the MVP in my opinion.

With an obvious bias ... I vote for Jackson.  Go Spartans ... beat Loras.

WH- good luck tonight. BTW, how is Ankeny already in and SE Polk has to win tonight to get in. Both teams have the same record and SEP beat Ankeny. I guess if SEP doesn't beat Urbandale, they don't deserve to be in the playoffs anyway.

The MVP talk with 3 weeks left is somewhat premature.  I think players can play themselves in or out.  I would agree that Jermar is a good QB.  Beg to differ on the comment Jackson is a better leader.  How many come from behind wins has he lead them to this year?  A sign of a true leader IMO is he is cool under pressure and has a never say die it's over attitude.  Yes Jackson leads in yards he also leads those three in turnovers as well.  I do think that has some place in this discussion.

Yea DutchHawk, I guess my last point was kind of pointless. Just because they won by 38,40 and 60 points doesn't make Jackson's play any less vauable. I can say there isn't a bad choice between the three. And, they still have time to add to their resumes.

I agree...Connell has showed some amazing poise the last year...leading his team on that final drive 3rd and 20...4th and 9 converted to score the tying touchdown. Thats the sign of an MVP.

Who cares if its premature talk...thats why were on here:)

Connell for MVP....heres why

Numbers don't lie both have 320 plays so far.  Connell 240 passing 80 rushing.  Jackson 126 rushing 194 passing.  Jackson has played 1 less game so he gets 45 plays per game to Connell 40.  Jackson has 6.84 yards per play to Connell 6.69.  Jackson more dangerous???? by a couple inches I suppose.  I would say yardage is even

Turnovers.... this is where it starts to widen the gap.  Jackson has 1 INT evey 27 throws to Connell 1 every 40.  I didn't see where they kept track of individual fumbles lost but throw out team/ team central lost 5 Dubuque  lost 9.

Scoring...... Connell has 23 out of 27 total td's or 85% of central's scores.  Jackson has 26 out of 35 or 74% of Dubuque's scores.

Wins....obviously won head to head every time the two have met.

Not only does Tim Connell mean more to Central than Jermar Jackson to Dubuque but MOST of the time MVP goes to conference championship winners.  3 weeks to go a lot could change.  Not to bash on Cornell but Jackson's offensive stats include playing Cornell already.....Tim Connell gets his chance.  Although Central seems to back off sooner Dubuque.  I don't see McMartin hanging 61 on Cornell this weekend.

Well maybe you are correct.  The talk is not premature but the results are.  I think that there are some games left to play to sway votes one way or the other is what  I should have said.  Looking back at the conference games played.  Connell has 5 INT's and 1 fumble and Jackson has 7 INT's and 1 fumble.  Lost fumbles that is.  I believe if memory serves they both have 4-5 fumbles but only one lost.

The MVP list must also include the Knights' Nick Weber.  The one guy in the league that you need to gameplan for in all phases of the game (offense, defense, specials).  I know this could bring up some more Cody Kelley over Mike Donnenworth MVP talk (I still think Cody got screwed) but Weber is very worthy of the award.

As for what Coe would do in the Yordi situation.  A good player for Coe that has started in recent years was forced to sit out a game after yelling racial obsenities not directed to a student from Coe, but to locals around the neighborhood after a near fight situation.  It was a bad situation for the team and the school.  It was dealt internally.  There were no legal rammafacations to the situation, just an apology and a one game suspension.  That's what Coe would do, which is a respectable rememdy.  Even though it is a misdomeaner in the eyes of the law, it is a terrible way to represent your team, especially for someone as recognizable on campus as the starting qb.

OK this is not PC.

Years ago a couple former Wartburg basketball players, who were in Mrs. Warthog's and my wedding, would begin to sing Follow the Yellow Brick Road when ever a particular vertically challenged coed would pass our dorm on the Wartburg campus.  Today they would probably be arrested, but back then that song and a half fifth of Southern Comfort would make me laugh so hard I'd almost pee my pants.

Perhaps you were shocked by my previous post to discover that I was not always a politically correct kind of guy.  Before you get too critical of my past behavior, keep in mind your father-in-law was probably drinking the other 1/2 of the SoCo and laughing with me.
