Go Dutch! Tough game today. I know you have it in you. Time to let it out!

Central up 7-0 at the half. Central had a pass intercepted in the end zone, then when the offense was marching downfield we fumbled the ball. Central got a little payback intercepting a pass intercepted the end zone right before the half. Phew!

Stop trying to give the game away!

Just going back a few posts regarding height and weight.  A UD friend of mine that as a 20 year old was 6'7...old age would surely make him shorter now.  His son is an O-lineman for North Dakota and is listed as 6'8 and 300 pounds.  But they just took a photo of them together with the son in in full uniform and he's shorter than my friend by an inch or two.  Curious  ;D
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

Central prevailed 10-0 against #19 Randolph Macon today. Both teams had opportunities to score that could have changed the outcome or at least the score. Both teams had a pass picked off in the end zone. Both teams missed at least one field goal. At times it looked like a game of Here you Win, No You Win. Credit to RMC who had 5 takeaways last week. I guess you need to expect that won't just stop, but frustrating to watch.

I expected RMC to be more of a force offensively, but to be fair the heat was stifling and Central's defense played outstanding all day. Central's defense was very strong last year and appears to be picking up right where they left off.  The offense played very well, but had 3 turnovers on the afternoon. I am excited to see where this season leads. Hoffman played exceptionally well today, outside of the interceptions. RMC had a good following given the long travel. On to next week and our last game against Luther in the conference. I hope we find a replacement team. Anyone hear anything on that? I may have missed a post from the offseason about it.

The offense needs to improve more than the defense. They need to come away with points consistently when they get in the red zone. Credit to RMC who had 5 takeaways last week.

Platteville is really, really good.  Last week they won big over a good Aurora team, and they are destroying a decent Dubuque team tonight.

Wouldn't it be nice if the WIAC was DII?

Wouldn't it be nice if people stopped wishing for less competition?

There is still plenty of competition among the small private colleges that don't have the advantages of state schools.

Division III is not just for "small private colleges."

I realize that  but state schools have a huge advantage in cost and facilities. Only my opinion.

I get it that UWRF is probably a pretty good offense, but I couldn't help but think of this as I was watching the score tick ever higher in that game:

Quote from: HansenRatings on September 02, 2025, 01:57:16 PMCoe's numbers went down quite a bit, and not just because of their QB's class year being misclassified in their NCAA roster. They also had a good deal of non-graduation roster losses on defense (maybe those guys had their class year entered incorrectly, too?). Coe's a team that has really hung their hat on defense lately, and they rank 237 out of 239 teams in returning defensive production. There's no way around it, they're going to have some major growing pains on that side of the ball.

I doubt Coe's 2024 defense gives up 700 yards of offense to River Falls.

Those defensive stats don't bode well for either team when it comes to winning a conference title or making a playoff run. I don't care how good the other offense is ...

UW-River Falls had the 16th worst returning production figure for their defense. They're both inexperienced, but it'll be tough sledding making the playoffs for either if they don't improve on that side of the ball quickly.
