Nice game, HPU.
Even if Pacific only has a .500 season in the NWC, it will help the SOS of the conference.

Correct. And after the fact, I realized Illinois College's stats from 2023 were wrong on Chance's player bio. He in fact had 98 passing TDs in those two years, not counting 10 more rushing TDs (article has since been updated). Explosive player for sure, though I'm not entirely sure what kind of O-Line he has in front of him, and that will play a factor in how much time he actually has in the pocket.

Missed on Teutsch from above, but all the other few guesses were right haha.

Odd that Teutsch isn't on the 2-deep. Did I miss something?

He is on the roster, wonder if hurt or something?

Yes. Per @CouchCru17 on X, he is dealing with an injury. Also reported that Da'Marion Morris "is recovering from injury and questionable for Saturday."

Good game Cru! Got a little too conservative too early on offense in my opinion in the 4th but it worked out .

Agreed.  Would've loved to come out for one or two more possessions and score before going into conservative mode... Some of the play calling was confusing too. Like, screen pass on 4th and 12 when your fg kicker was hitting from 45-50 in warmups? I know he missed one already but it couldn't have hurt. Also, probably could've tried something besides running it up the middle on the last play before the 2 minute warning... But, we got the win!

Shot ourselves in the foot with turnovers, but the defense held pretty strong against a dang good QB.

Offense had spurts of greatness, but I did notice that we didn't really throw too many deep passes but dang BJ Stewart is dynamic.

If you've made it this far... I miss the train horn, did a rule change preventing us from having it in the regular season? Also, wonder if the band got a warning during halftime, they were pretty quiet in the second half.

What rule prevents using the train horn after a score? Also, did the NCAA change the rule of artificial noise makers being used in post season? I did notice that the band was a lot quite in the second half.

The noisemaker rules are only for postseason games.

I don't know if it was because of the DLine pressure (4 sacks) or good coverage in the secondary, but Chance looked pretty ordinary last night. And Michaux actually finished with a better QBR.

Pat Coleman

Yeah. Playing UMHB, like playing Wartburg in the 2013 playoffs, is a bigger deal than anyone in the Midwest Conference.

Well, here we are. Another year of D3 Football.

So good to be back. It's always difficult to judge greatness in D3 until you get to the playoffs and look back on trends and trajectories. Being that as it may, here are my Hammonds's Highlights from week 1.

1. The presence of Michaux in the backfield was evident. After beginning the first drive with a pick 6, the D1 transfer quickly put it behind him and shook the first game jitters. His second int was an athletic play by the defensive player. The accuracy of his throws were otherwise impressive and it's easy to see why he was given the nod.

2. The young offensive line was impressive. They really came together and made holes for Ferguson, whose speed led to some huge gains. No sacks on the qb were also a pleasant sight.

3. Largest concern on offense? WR. Besides the Trinity transfer, the others missed "easy" catches that would have been hauled in by KJ Miller, TJ Josey, and others of WR stables past. This needs to get better.

4. Defensive line and LBs look very good. The pressure they put on a huge offensive line was wonderful. I don't recall so much pressure in recent years especially under Harmon. The LBs have that speed we need.

5. DBs need to play a cleaner, more controlled game. Though they stepped up in the second half, they need to shore this up. I want to see Scooby Carter get a chance.

That's it. That's my takeaways. We know what two weeks brings and what they will do. Yesterday's stats prove that.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Agreed. Chance seemed to look impressive at the start but was seeing ghosts by game end. The Cru got good pressure on him even only rushing 4 or less most of the time.
