Agreed.  But if the current legal trends hold, he won't lose a year of NCAA eligibility by playing at a juco.

BTW Brown was 15-28 for 207 and a TD but threw two INTs and according to Cory Hogue's review of the game " struggled with accuracy at times" in Trinity Valley's 28-15 season opening win against Independence.

I'm curious what everyone thought about the scrimmage yesterday.

I was encouraged. Without a current roster, or solid grasp on the Spanish language, it was hard to single out and evaluate many of the individual players, but the team seemed to be a lot more in-synch than they have been in the pre-season scrimmages the past few years. I was struck by how crisp the offense looked by comparison, and how much I missed Lee's scheme. Also the QBs were pretty sharp compared to what we've seen the past couple of years.

As far as critiques, they need to shore up the defensive interior. They got gashed up the middle a few too many times for my taste. Also, the center snaps were a bit sloppy at times, though that may improve with more reps.

Overall I'm excited about the potential of this team. I'll probably go back and watch the scrimmage again if they ever get around to releasing the 2025 roster.

I agree, thought the QB play was a lot better than last 2-3 yrs although there were a couple of strip sacks---that is how UANL scored their first TD.  Receivers looked very good.  D-line was pretty shaky at first, seemed to get in a better groove the second half.  Secondary could have had tighter coverage, special teams looked fantastic--great kickers, punters, return guys.  That BJ Stewart really showed out.  Linebackers---wasn't impressed------UMHB usually has great linebackers and they seemed to miss a lot of tackles and basically seemed to miss gaps

Was impressed with the following players(numbers according to what they wore in scrimmage)--#1,11, 43, 30,50,53, 54, 44, 91, 98,97, 99.  I thought offensive line played decent but they just didn't seem to get much push.  Pass blocking was good unless UANL sent 5 or more.

Anyways, that's my 2 cents worth

One thing that hasn't been mentioned so far, and hopefully we don't need to see it much, but the punting game was on point.  #87 boomed a 46-51 yarder, and #36 hit one 48 yards to pin them on the 2.

Also, one thing that was really noticeable over the last few years is we were playing way more disciplined.  Even with all of the unsportsmanlike penalties on UANL our guys never really retaliated.  There were way fewer dumb penalties than we've had the last few years.

Very true, even on a play in the 4th that UANL was called for an unsportsmanlike penalty, our player didn't react very happily and Harmon immediately yelled for a new player to come on the field and you could hear him say its not what they do but how you react, player nodded and it was done.

All in all lots of positives to pull from the scrimmage, its going to be a hard season no matter what but I left the game thinking that like things felt more normal then they have the last few years.
