I see Will Mclintock is back on the roster-----said he was out 2024 due to injury.  Another big receiving target back

Great news!  Iirc he showed flashes of brilliance at TE. We don't throw to them much, and in last week's game pretty sure Tyler Woods got most of the snaps at H-Back/TE.  Don't think we targeted him once that I can recall.

Coach Lee used our tight ends a lot and very effectively during his first tenure as OC. You are right I don't think Woods got targeted once vs Bethel but that was mostly because we almost didn't throw a forward pass in the second half. Kind of felt like Lee was trying to protect Michaux after those two first half picks.

Agree that McClintock should be a terrific addition. Funny how we remember things--the Cru actually threw 25 passes in the first half of the game and 21 in the second.

I didn't phrase that very well. Yes we threw the ball in the 2H, what I was getting at is we didn't throw the ball down the field much - mostly quick game, even on BJ Stewart's long TD was off a quick bubble. Only time we threw up the field was when we were forced into third and longs and even ran the ball on some of those.

I'm not complaining, just an observation. I published a thread on twitter stating how high I am on this year's roster, so I am very happy with our team after week 1!

Against Bethel, we only threw the ball 26 times total, completed 20 of those so numbers must be a little skewed there Rev.

My apologies. You are absolutely correct. Can't explain my error-I don't drink. ;-)

Watched the UW-W game this weekend.  Don't know if it was just the competition they faced but their defense looked to be pretty fast and aggressive.  They didn't do much on the ground but the QB looked pretty sharp.

St. Xavier had some athletes for sure. They did a ton of run blitzing, which is understandable given we put up 436 yards of rushing the week before. They wanted to make our QB/passing game beat them. Our QB Klinkner played well in his first career start. He's only a sophomore, but he's a pretty special kid. Great physical attributes and excellent poise.

I think you have a pretty good read on our defense. It's definitely hard to ascertain speed on video. But I would say pretty fast and aggressive is a good description. If we can limit the CRU's big plays, we will be fine. We have two interceptions in each game and zero turnovers on the year. That has been a huge point of emphasis since January.

The CRU will be the most talented and best team we have faced this year and it isn't close.

As has been the case in this matchup since it's inception in 2006, the team that wins the turnover battle wins this game.

On a very kind note, noticed the Lutes are donating 25% of the ticket proceeds to a memorial foundation set up for flooding victims in Texas-------says quite a bit about that program.  Pretty nice thing for a school so far away to donate---my hats off to the Pacific Lutheran University Athletic Department!

Looking at Sul Ross so far this season..... two shut out blowout losses.... and the results of last season....

Makes you wonder if they would consider returning to D3 and the ASC.

It's been ugly for them....and the travel has got to be exponentially more expensive than it was in the ASC.

Just some food for thought.

It might be more expensive but I wouldn't be surprised if those beat downs paid for their entire season. Also its not like they were winning a lot of games in D3, they had 1 winning season since 1998.

But yeah it was a beat down they had NEGATIVE 38 yards for the game against SFA.
