The former Louisiana College, now NAIA Louisiana Christian, defeated D1 Northwestern State 42-37.  That's supposedly only the second time an NAIA school has defeated a D1 FCS athletic scholarship-awarding school (Presbyterian College 21 The Citadel 13, 1979).

Yes, it's a great headline. Congratulations to LC. But Northwestern State is one of the worst teams in FCS. In 2022 they went 4-7. Since then, they've won 1 game. I think they forfeited half of the 2023 season, going 0-6, 0-12 in 2024, and 1-11 last year. They did beat FCS Alcorn State in week 1 last year.

Again, congratulations to LC, but take it out of a vacuum and I'm not sure it's much more than oddity of a really bad FCS team being really, really bad.

There was another D3 ASC connection on the field last night, Coach Blaine McCorkle who has been at Northwestern State since 2024 after leaving Belhaven. I won't fault him for leaving but it is a shame because he appeared to have Belhaven pointed in the right direction and they have fallen off since he left and in 2+ years at Northwestern he has 1 victory. The cashgrass is usually greener as you go up in levels but it must be a hard adjustments for some coaches in the darker moments of the season.

ETBU announced an enrollment of 2,024 for the fall.

First time they have ever crossed the 2000 threshold.

Good news when there isn't a lot of good news for small college enrollments.

Didn't get to make the UMHB scrimmage last night.  Any word on how that went, standouts?

They had already started when I showed up at 10:00 AM.  Other team backed out so it was just white vs purple with white playing offense and purple playing defense.  A couple of decent looking RB's, QB's had moments but nothing spectacular.  Defense won more than the offense did.

I'm assuming a roster will be released at some point this season.
2016, 2018, and 2021 D3 Football National Champions

I'm surprised we got the roster already. I'll run my tool against it this evening.

Some interesting numbers from the 2026 Cru football roster: 38 offensive players, 14 played at least 4 games last year, 24 are new to the varsity.

41 defensive players, 15 played at least 4 games last year, 26 new to the varsity.

Of the 80 numbered players, 41 are returners, 25 incoming transfers, and 14 true freshman (that I can tell).

There are only 12 listed seniors and 2 graduate students which seems rather low.

The vast majority of the incoming transfers appear to be the secondary with 9 DB/CB/S transfers.

4/5 of the running backs are transfers, and the other numbered RB is a Freshman.

The D-Line has 9/13 returners and All 3 QB's with numbers are returners.

10/15 of the OL appear to be newcomers.

Will McClintock is back, dude's looked good when not injured at TE.
