Scotty:
Where did I compare conferences?

scotty

Sept 3, Witt has lots of luck, they are in the NCAC...

you must the football philosophy is a little different in the OAC and NCAC...thats ok...a student athlete has a choice...

Scotty:
I would think the philosophy in many sports differs between the OAC, NCAC and numerous other conferences. If the NCAC schools prefer to approach football with less gusto than others, I have no problem with that. Basketball between the conferences' top tier teams is very competitive. Some in both conferences wish it were the same for football--it isn't.
Bottom line for me--as long as the 180 kids at Mount & 90 at some the NCAC schools get a good education and enjoy their athletic experience, thats really what its all about.

scotty

jdean, i was merely answering your question...as I said, a student has a choice...

Some thoughts on Game 1--   Listening to the game on the radio and numerous phone calls from the game live is not the same is being there but anyhow.  Posted a few months ago that a few Florida kids should make a positive impact, (thanks for not letting me down guys!. ) I was disappointed in the number of penalties from the O'line, but that will come to an end SOON.  Qbs sound about equal in passing ability, hard to tell about the feet when your not there.  Practice against scout D's is nothing compared to LIVE offense so let us not grade to harshly on the redzone screw ups.  The "D" sounded VERY TIGHT and FAST! Still worried about the LONG pass coverage.  Overall, very positive and a lot of work before we are ready for Da Bears.  I believe we will be looking at a differnt team in 2 weeks!! ;)                                                                                                                         ROLL~~RAIDERS

Rascal and others; thanks for the words of support and encouragement. Kevin and I will be at the JCU game in a few weeks and will be there at Mount and away games when we can. I'm still planning on getting to Mount for as much of the Mount-Cap game as possible. (Got an 11:30AM game in Mogadore that day) Got a chance to meet Dick Crum at the brunch for the new Prez on Saturday  morning. Kind of a thrill for a Pee-Wee coach. (Of course I already know the best coach in the land)
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Any more nominees for the Mr. Obvious Trophy?

Scotty

By now we all know you don't like schools with more than 22 kids on the roster.  Move on.  You have been posting for a month now and haven't gotten past the rosters.  There is more to the game than the number of players in the program.

Last I checked the NCAC took football seriously too, we just play the game better.

reality check, my apologies to you...just a little bit confused about the recruiting dollars as we view D3...happy with all concerned but never want to view it as a job...thanks for your concern...

"recruiting dollars"

Scotty

Our coaches don't even go to high schools to see kids.  The kids come to our campuses and that's where the recruiting efforts take place.  And the only dollars that went into any recruiting efforts I saw were the cost of three meals in the school cafeteria.  They don't put a bigger effort into recruiting kids than any other conference.  Because of the recruiting policies in the OAC, they probably reach out less than most programs.  ONU just called me, mailed me and invited me for a weekend trip.  In fact, it was a Wabash coach that came all the way to Dayton to recruit myself and another when we were seniors along with the mailings and phone calls.

And to your second question: no

my apologies to any OAC team that i offended about the number of players on your team...Reality Check from ONU reminded me that i was out of line...my age excuses me but my humble apologies...after discussing this topic with my D3 friends, i see the financial rewards for 180 football players...i rest my case...Go Polar Bears...

If I am frustrated with anything, it's you.  But I know I shouldn't be so I am trying my best to move on to better things.

I think you may suffer from a malady called "program envy".  Size does matter.   ;)
