I mean, I believe I can speak on behalf of the JCU fanbase; while we dislike the Evil Purple empire, we respect you. However, what is there to respect about that team in Berea?

They aren't the worst football team that hold practices in Berea, Ohio.

^^^ well played.  I audibly laughed at this one.

Yes, there are semifinalist trophies.

Okay I get finalist trophies but semifinals? How far down the ladder do trophies go? Why not quarterfinalist trophies? It's a slippery slope!

Ed Bubonics' son plays QB there.

I'm still blown away that that's true, how did his dad not get him to come to Mount? Was he just self aware enough to know he wouldn't see the field in Alliance?

I think it goes all the way down to a NCAC football championship trophy.  I bet there's a parade down Belvoir being planned as we speak

I'm not sure.  I've not spoken with Ed since College.  Maybe his son wanted to make his own path.  At the time MTU had Noah B at QB.  He might've just wanted to play earlier.

Wonder if it has something to do with being "equivalent" to basketball.  They have had semi-finalist trophies for years, but then of course a semi-finalist is a regional champion in basketball.

Boy don't get me started on certain media outlets calling parts of the D3 Football playoffs "Sweet Sixten" "Elite 8" when those are actually trademarked terms for NCAA basketball

I mean it's reasonable, it just feels so weird to see a legendary UMU name at a nearby rival school.

Mulinix, the next star RB at BW, is also a Mount legacy.  Dad was a baseball star and M Club inductee.  Getting as much Purple Raider DNA in the program is probably not the worst idea in Berea

enough about BW, is the gray turf at Marietta the worst TV/Streaming experience in the OAC?  Until they pull back and show the Big Lots outside of the stadium, it seriously looks like 1950's black and white tv when they play Mount.

In a few weeks it will be that glorious time of year again, I am talking about Turkey Day.  The day when the winning National Champion head coaches and their spouses get to sit at the big table at the annual Kehres family Thanksgiving shindig.
The head coach that only has a couple of participation trophies is once again regulated to the folding card table with the folding chairs with the kids.  As a little motivation to move to the big table, the non winning National Championship head coach will receive his Turkey Day meal on a styrofoam plate with plastic silverware and his milk will be served in a red Solo cup.  The other kids at the table love it because it is like a picnic to them.
The big table gets the good china, good silverware and consume their drinks out of the best crystal.  Will this be enough to motivate the coach or will next years meal be once again consumed with the kids?
Stay tuned, we will find out shortly.

Fido - that is too long to quote (remember that guys) but still the funniest thing I have read in a while. A friend of mine didnt believe me when i told him about the "kids table" comments until I gave him a screenshot. Thanks!

Saturday should be telling for the Purple Raiders.  If you are planning on playing in the Stagg Bowl, then we are at the midway point of the season.  I might not agree with the slow-down, conservative style over the past couple of weeks but I can see the value in trying to limit injuries, etc.  But now is the time to ramp things up.

We'll know by the middle of the first quarter just how serious this Mount Union squad is.  Will they sleep walk through the first quarter or two again and let an inferior opponent gain confidence?  Is this team capable of putting together two good halves of football?  might need to do that at some point this season

If "the standard is the standard" then they really need to light up a Marietta team that is scuffling to even be .500.  Will the Raiders play up to their "standard"?  I wish there was more evidence to point that way, but right now I guess I just have to hope that they put it all together for 60 mins
