Quote from: D3fanboy on January 11, 2026, 10:45:06 AMCongrats to Kaleb Brown on his commitment to Tarleton State (FCS).  The Texans just ended the season ranked 6th.  Damn good program, hopefully he gets the playing time and shows out.

Things don't seem to be going as well for the other Mount guys in the portal.  Nick Turner is participating in "All Star" combines and all quiet on the Davion Grant front.  I bet that his "agents" are just working really hard behind the scenes.....

I noticed that Kaleb Brown had some offers and I'm happy for him. He's earned that opportunity...I still wonder if he was even allowed an extra year if he wouldn't stayed at Mount Union.

Kappas brings some energy back to the program. He's already out there recruiting. If you didn't listen to the interview he did with Kenny Roda, it's worth a listen to great his excitement level to be back and trust he has in Dartt.

Quote from: raiderpa on January 08, 2026, 12:27:16 PMI would love to see if Mike Elder at Avon is close to retirement from the school system, and perhaps we could lure him back to Mount Union.  He is a super coach and great guy.  He or Kappas would be perfect Head Coach material in the future.

Elder has had success at Avon but I am a parent in a  nearby district and have heard some truly awful things about his conduct and behavior from parents of Avon players...guy type locker room talk. Essentially if he wasnt winning he would be gone.

I think if he could have stayed at Mount he would, based on his post-JCU press conference comments. I'm still of the theory that guys can get an extra year at a different level but not entirely sure.

This may be a dumb question, but in the year of our lord 2026 what are we talking about with this conduct?  Because these days no amount of winning is protecting you from anything remotely bad.  Massillon Washington excepted, obviously.

Dr. Acula - check PM. I dont want to tear anyone down on a public board based on rumors - no matter how many there are and from inside the Avon circle. But i think character matters in a coach. So when questions pop up - sometimes you look another way. What about giving a shot to Kevin Burke? Where is he now?

I believe how it works is that if there is a year in which you do not travel or dress for games and only practice, then you can count it as a redshirt season for D1 eligibility. At least, that's how UWRF's receiver who just entered the portal worded it.

Kaleb played three full seasons at Mount and 2 games in his freshman year.  Typically, d3fb teams will find an injury reason for that year with less than 30% of games played for a medical redshirt (the only type at the D3 level), but maybe Kaleb didn't have that "luxury".  It might be a thing where there is a redshirt year available at higher levels, but D3 just doesn't have that option.  It stinks for Mount in '26, but the last thing D3FB needs is redshirts and extra years again.  We already have enough of that in the WIAC with their greyshirts

should be a big day for the Purple Raiders, the College Football Hall of Fame class is set to be announced this afternoon

Kmic should be a no-brainer and Billy B is long overdue to be selected.

I'm happy for Wayne to get into the Continental Football League...whatever that is, but this should be a cautionary tale for all those D3FB players with agents and uncles telling them that they are "league bound".  Wayne Ruby was an absolute dawg at the D3 level, broke records at the d3 superpower...

the all-time great Jordan Lynch of Northern Illinois makes the CFBHOF, but Nate Kmic and Bill Borchert are on the outside looking in...makes perfect sense

Lynch was 3rd in the Heisman voting and took a mid-major team to the Orange Bowl. Dude was a beast as a dual threat QB. He had a great college career. No need to try to diminish him just cuz your guys didn't get in yet.

Literally all of the finalists had great college careers and were "beasts". But the all time, all division rushing leader should be a no doubter
