Quote from: BergAlum2 on October 20, 2026, 01:53:37 PMBig weekend for the Berg, two week stretch of ONU and Etta, which both I think have good chances of giving the Berg a second lost.  You Mount fans gotta be Polar Bear fans this weekend.  If the berg wins these two, I dont think Cap or Wilma will be taking us down, giving us hopefully our second playoff bid ever, and closing your chance at least for the OAC title.  Good news for ya'll, is it seems like Heidelberg always falls apart on big games when the season seems to be going well  ;D

Berg getting a 2nd loss makes things easier.  But I am sort of rooting for the Student Princes to win out.  A Mount win vs BW and the 3-way tie at the top probably should get 3 OAC teams into the dance and a 4th playing in the bowl game.  Nearly half of your teams playing postseason football is quite the feather in the cap for the OAC.  9-1 Berg and 9-1 BW are easily in the playoff via NPI.

The 4th place coach will 100% vote for Mount as the Auto Qualifier to get their team into the bowl game.  So, then it's just the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th coaches voting.  All Mount needs is likely 2 of those coaches to vote for the best thing for the conference and the Raiders are playing some joke of conference winner on the road in week 1 of the playoffs and stealing a Pool C bid.

Not sure how the NPI numbers would work out for getting 2 OAC at large bids.  I know in the D3 podcast a few times logan hansen listed the conferences most likely to get 2 at large teams in, and the OAC has not been mentioned, yet.  Shame there are less at large bids than last year.  Idk if Logan Hansen ever takes a gander here, but curious if it's even mathematically/realistically possible for us to get two in via at large bids.

This would only happen if Mount Union wins the double secret vote and BW and HBerg each finish 9-1.  This probably gets three OACs in the field.  Please note that my "probably" here is backed up by absolutely nothing other than I'm assuming most 9-1 runners up will go through. I haven't cross-checked with Logan's scenario generator.

Is this meant to be sung to the tune of the old Kraft Foods jingle? Because my mind went there. I'm also willing to bet Mount's coach was also thinking about macaroni and cheese when he conjured this 2 deep.

9-1 BW and 9-1 Berg are very likely in.  8-2 Mount is likely one of the first teams out.  All three could be Pool C teams, but Mount needs Grove City to win and the OAC to win the rest of their HCAC crossovers.  Etta or Muskie pulling off an upset would be pretty sweet for the top 3 OAC teams, even ONU technically

Only way Mount gets in is by winning out, and Berg losing to Etta or ONU. Auto Qualifier is the only way.

the 3 way tie still very much likely favors Mount, imo.  The conference coaches voting against putting 3 teams into the playoffs and a 4th into a bowl game just to spite the big dog would be hard to believe.  Even an 8-2 Mount Union has a punchers chance at a Pool C bid.  Winning out is the key for sure.

I also have not seen that, but this lends it credence: Mount Union added its name to our open dates board a few weeks back, looking for just one game for 2027, in Week 1.

I believe this is correct. I was told about this game being "close" in August, but I didn't know it was confirmed. I can't imagine Mount posting it before it's firm.
