Thanks Big Bro!

Anthony Pitingolo looks like a great athlete based on the stats I found here: Click Here

But MUC might have missed on the biggest impact player on the Gulf Coast roster based on the following stat line:

Field Goals    Made    Att      Pct           Lng
Leo Cruz       7              6    1.167    83

When you make more field goals than you attempt and kick the ball 83 yards to boot (pun intended) you've really got something special.

Mr. Ypsi

Wow, I want that Cruz kid on my team!  I just love those 83-yarders! ;D

And getting 3 points when you didn't even try for it has got to be a plus. :o

Stopped in Massillon for some lunch today and saw several "Welcome Coach Jason Hall and Family to Massillon" signs.

They'll be burning those signs in the homecoming bonfire.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Arguably the last time Massillon Washington football had a bona fide dynasty was during the 6 years of Leo Strang (1958-1963). He produced an aggregate record of 54-8-1 with 3 state championships (including 2 national championships), but one year he finished 6-5. During that season "String Strang" signs popped up around Massillon - one of those being in huge letters painted on his home's driveway. Nonetheless Leo moved on to Kent State where his success became more modest.

Do you think they realize that Kmic will only be a Junior this coming season?

Going to make for a long, cold season perhaps..

Also,

Thomas More has released their 2008 schedule...looks like John Carroll is coming to play at the new on campus facility on for the season opener on September 6th.

The young Saints team will be tested early...I like this addition.

When I was a kid I saw a black and white movie about a donkey who could kick like 90 yards.  So, I was looking for footage from that movie (not remembering the name made it a bit difficult) to relate to the above posts, I ran across this hit by a kicker.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYJddST2Qbg&NR=1  I like the slow-mo footage at the end.

As a completely unbiased observer and looking at nothing more than the stats provided, it would seem that young Mr. Pitingolo ran rampant over lesser teams and struggled against the better teams on the schedule.

Wonder if big bro realizes the quality of play will increase at MUC and in the OAC and that D3 isn't just glorified high school ball with guys who "weren't good enough" to make it someplace bigger?

It seems more and more FLA kids are finding their way into D3, but as we all know, that mindset is deeply rooted in a lot of places, especially areas with no D3 schools like FLA.  For every Pierre Garcon there are several FL kids who go to D3 schools thinking the quality they played agaist in HS was better than they will see in D3 and are surprised to learn that, for the most part, isn't true.

Walt Disney's "GUS" per chance - a 1976, anthropomorphic clone of the classic Francis/Donald O'Conner series from the early 1950s?

Kmic's a senior in 2008.  He played in 11 games as a true freshman (coming on strong in the playoffs), and had a huge soph year.  Last year, with 1700 yards, was his junior season.  That said, it will still be a long and cold season for the boys from FL.

JK, While I agree with the message you're conveying I have to admit I did some quick research and while I thought initially that he ran all over a bunch of small schools, he was the 4A player of the year.  And 4A in Florida (up to 2000 students enrolled) which is somehwere around D-II or D-III in the OHSAA.  I was honestly surprised by the numbers when I looked into it.  We will see if he has an impact on MUC in due time.

I wish him nothing but the best, in all honesty (except for against Cap, of course).  You certainly did more research than I did.  All I did was check on the records of the teams he played against.  He had great games against the 2,3,4 win teams with a few good to great games against the 5-6-7 win teams, but his lowest rushing totals were against the 10 win and 9 win teams.

It says something, however, about his value and ability that his lowest rushing totals corresponded to his teams losses.  As went Pitinoglo, so went GCHS.

And certainly, the POY in any division from FLA, OH, TX, PA and a few other states has the talent to succeed.  Let's just hope he doesn't fall prey to the mindset I mentioned before, thinking that since he was POY in FLA, that automatically makes him better than most in D3.
