Interesting note from the daily dose:

No. 10 Wheaton at Illinois Wesleyan. This game, along with the game Keith chose, can impact two conference automatic bids, in this case the CCIW and the MIAA. Hope and Olivet, two of the three teams tied for first in the MIAA, played Wheaton and Illinois Wesleyan respectively and their opponents' records are the tiebreaker that it appears will settle the automatic bid. Oh, and Wheaton can win the CCIW automatic bid with a victory, so that's important too. IWU can win the automatic bid if it wins and North Central loses at Carthage.


So Hope and Olivet also put their hopes on the line in Btown.

Coach Swider lists Andy Studebaker as "doubtful."  Didn't Andy have surgery Thursday?  A little gamesmanship, or did he not have surgery?

Word I heard was that Studebaker had surgery... so he's done for the year.  In other news it sounds like Wheaton could be without 3-4 more starters (all on offensive side of the ball).  Not good news when you are going up against the likes of the Titan defense.  As Wheaton lines up against IWU they could be without 6 players who were All-CCIW last year.  Just keeps getting better...   

As ThunderStones said... no excuses.  Time to get it done.  You know Swider won't let Wheaton feel sorry for themselves.  He'll have them ready to go and they will give it all they have with whoever lines up.

Definitely a blow for Wheaton..IWU had 8 sacks against us last week.  Hopefully for Wheaton, Norris performs well under pressure

Norris, Fossum and 2 OL are most likely out.  So 2nd string QB and 5th year senior WR are most likely out or limited.  Rowson (All American last year) and Royer are the OL who are likely to miss the game.  Offense takes a serious blow before the first snap.  All team captains are not even dressed.  So not only is Wheaton hurting by position, but they are missing the leadership on the field.

Lots to overcome, but I'm still confident.

Very interesting bit Q, thanks for sharing it. a few observations:

Marcus Dunlop is an extremely well spoken young man. He was very impressive in his part of the interview. You can't help but like a kid like that. (except for today of course!).

Stormin Norm had some good bits. They talked about matchups and the interviewer primed him for "a defensive back that is a big play guy and a great punt returner" to which Norm went on to say how Wheaton really didn't have any outstanding players on offense or defense.  He called the IWU Defense the "top defense in the conference" and joked about his buzz cut (a bet he made w the offense in preseason. overall pretty entertaining.

Sounds like a real battle between Ceisel and Ittersagen.  On consecutive plays, Ceisel beat him and would have had a td if he wasn't overthrown; then Ittersagen nearly intercepted the next pass.

It is strange having to listen to the Wheaton broadcast - WJBC is going with the ISU game - boo!
