Hope up over Carthage 13-12 in the 4th quarter. Quite a different game from the 70-46 track meet last year.

I picked the over

Those stats are pretty telling. It sounds like Hockaday may be a good one.

He certainly looks good so far

Is that unusual?

For Wheaton, very. Coach Swider always mentions how much of a difference it makes to have juniors and seniors playing. Much more maturity in every way than 18-19 year olds.

After a muffed punt snap, Wheaton shows some trickery and scores a TD on a 3 play drive. 16-6 Wheaton.

Millikin with a 55 yd punt return for td 42 -0

TD Bethel on a 4th and Goal from the 1. Wheaton up 16-13 with 6 minutes left in the 3rd.

Mugsy · September 12, 2009, 04:03:44 PM

Hope and Carthage knotted at 19 with just under 8 minutes left.

For the 3rd time in the game, another Wheaton receiver beyond all Bethel DB's. This time underthrown by Norris.

Not sure about the play calling... 3 straight pass attempts of 25+ yards, though the 3rd one was complete for a long gain. I'd like to see more of Gingg.

Mugsy · September 12, 2009, 04:08:13 PM

Norris to Hindman for a 3 yard TD pass. 23-13 Wheaton.

Wheaton has had horrible kick coverage today. Bethel returns ensuing kickoff over 45 yards, then tack on a late hit by the kicker. Ugh.

Mugsy · September 12, 2009, 04:16:45 PM

Ugh! How many times a year does Wheaton get fooled by a fake punt? Is it me or does this happen at least 3 times a year? Bethel gains 20+ yards on a fake punt.

Carthage beats Hope 26-19.
