Elmhurst is going to be a 3 seed in the playoffs. They will play a 7 seed in Elmhurst. Think Franklin, Adrian, maybe Witt/Kenyon. So a possible Bracket for Elmhurst could be:

UWOshkosh v NCC
CUC v Adrian
Elmhurst v Franklin
Heidleberg v Witt

If Kenyon wins the NCAC bid then I would say:

UWO v NCC
CUC v Kenyon
Elmhurst v Adrian
Heidelberg v Franklin

It all depends on the larger field and how it fits but you get the idea.

How does NCC get whacked with the 8?

Cuz they got whacked by Wheaton and will limp in at 8-2.

I'm not so sure they come in at 8. 6 or 7 maybe, even with the loss to Wheaton. IMHO they are still better than CUC,
Elmhurst and Adrian. And I think they could beat Heidelberg as well. If Adrian loses this week-end, I can see NC moving up.

There's no way Kenyon would get seeded above NCC in that scenario.  They've already lost 3 games to the likes of Bluffton and Wash U and have no quality wins.

I agree NCC is seeded ahead of kenyon. Matchups I used were based on geography. I think its more than 500miles from kenyon to UWO so I flipped the pairings. NCC will NOT be ranked ahead of CUC, Elmhurst or Adrian. That's a fact. If they get in it will be as a 7 or 8. If they play CUC they will beat them by 60pts most likely.

Being better has nothing to do with it. Strength comparisons of respective playoff teams are subjective -- even if everyone agrees that Team A is better than Team B on the field of play, it's still nevertheless subjective. Being better in terms of actual football ability won't make a dime's worth of difference if Team B has better criteria numbers (in-region winning percentage, OWP, OOWP, etc.) than does Team A.

Sure, North Central's better than Concordia (IL), Elmhurst, Adrian, and Heidelberg. But it won't help the Cards any. They're still going to have a low seed, and they'll still be seeded behind lots of teams that would probably lose to NCC by a big pile of points if they ever faced each other on the gridiron. That's what happens when you lose two in-region games.

I'm thinking a 6 or 7 is pretty low. I just don't think they're an 8.

As USee pointed out, a team that would otherwise be seeded as a 6 or a 7 could be seeded as an 8 if geography dictates it. Geography (i.e., D3's budget for travel expenses) frequently alters the seeding in various D3 tournaments.

And don't forget that a CCIW team was shipped to the West last year.  UWO, Coe, St. Thomas, & Bethel are all within 500 miles of Elmhurst/Wheaton/Naperville.

After I posted I wondered if that was your reasoning.  It looks like it's 511 miles from Gambier to Oshkosh.  Good call.

That is a VERY easy bracket for Oshkosh to win.   If that's the 8 teams in the North, you can book UWO for a semi-final appearance right now.

Overall, I'm curious to see how the playoffs end up.  Hard to tell with such little cross-over between leagues and regions, but it sure looks like there is a few legit teams (Mount, MHB, Linfield, OWU, St Thomas and probably Wesley), with a bunch of decent teams behind them.  But I can't see any of that 2nd group being a real threat to the top.  IMHO, there are going to be some teams that are going to be #3 and #4 seeds simply because there is no one else to put there.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

If you are right about the UWO v NCC 1st round matchup- I think it's unfortunate for UWO.  I'm not saying they can't beat NCC, but NCC surely is nothing like a typical #8 seed.
