Quote from: USee on Today at 09:57:30 AMhow did he do on the spread?

So just looking at the first week.

He had:

Bethel +9.7 @ NCC.  NCC won by 23
Mount Union +6.3 @ Wheaton. Wheaton won by 1
IWU -18.5 @ Albion. IWU won by 14
Carroll -4.9 @ St. Norbert. Carroll won by 30
Simpson +14.5 @ Augie. Augie won by 28.
NPU +5.5 @ Franklin. Franklin won by 3.
IC -21.5 @ Elmhurst. IC won by 15
Lakeland +6.9 @ Carthage. Carthage won by 9
Millikin +9.4 @ Olivet. Olivet won by 20.

So in week 1 he went 9-0 straight up. Now as far as the spread goes if I took Carroll -4.9 and they win by 30 the spread is good for me but was the spread correct?

NCC2010

Just listened to the podcast. Good stuff as always. Small correction though, Pat. It was Lee Brekke who played QB for Whitewater in the 2010 playoffs when Matt Blanchard was out, not the Justin fella you mentioned. I unfortunately remember playing against Brekke lol.

NCC2010

Observations from NCC's 35-7 win over Augustana...

Despite only 35 points, I thought this was the best the offense has looked thus far. The first team offense scored TDs on 5 of their 7 drives. On the first drive of the second half, they ended up punting after Wilson missed Ballard, who was wide open for what would've been a 55 yard TD. They seem to have settled on senior Jorge Ortiz at center. LG is still a mystery though, as Dracup started for the third time but was pulled early in the second quarter for Nevious. I thought maybe it was an injury for Dracup again, but he came back in and finished the game with the backup offense. David Ballard II had 5 carries and 10 catches, they clearly want the ball in his hands as much as possible. Duke Guenther is the starting RB on paper, but Ballard seems to be the guy they want getting the most touches on offense. Jake Vitel did not play after getting injured against North Park, but Jim Curtin did return from injury. I'm interested to see how the offensive line performs against Wheaton's defense on Saturday.

Defense played pretty typically of how they have throughout the season thus far. Brayden Garrigan was dressed and the broadcast booth said he was going to play, but he never went in the game. Kenny Rutherford returned from injury to start at corner. I think we will see both Garrigan and Troy Kashul play Saturday against Wheaton after neither has played since the Bethel game.

One obstacle for Shane Dierking in preparation this week will be that he is getting inducted into the NCC Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a player (along with Broc Rutter). There is a ceremony Saturday morning and he will have to give a speech. Obviously a great accomplishment and well deserved, but it will take some of his time away from preparing for the game and will also alter his pregame routine on Saturday.

Very excited for the game and hoping the crowd is as good as or better than last season's matchup.

NCC with that last game moved up to #1 in conference in avg. rushing yds per game.
Only team that has run at all on Wheaton is Mount Union who had 107 rushing yds.

Looking at conference stats:

Wheaton #2 passing offense and #2 passing defense as far as avg. yds per game.
NCC #3 passing offense and #3 passing defense as far as avg. yds per game.

I won't mention who is #1 in those categories ;D
